You wouldn't be the first.

You could invoke some fundamentalist religion and make everything go away, then just do as you please as long as you don't get caught.

I really wish I understood this question, because it sounds like it's probably funny.

I suppose this is roughly the old "Can I do whatever I want and then just 'go penitent' when the reaction sets in?" And history shows that the answer is yes. It's the classic tale: the Fall From Grace of the Religious Leader, and his subsequent Teary Confession. Christianity is actually set up to get you off the hook for anything; that's its appeal.

Grace does not erase your tendancies towards negative behavior. Growth takes time. Especially, if you are used to being a jerk. This actually might be an easier personality issue to work through than other more serious ones. Forgiveness is often liberating.

It doesn't cleanse you of what ever you might have done. Instead be sincere and ask for forgiveness from whom ever you've done wrong to and ask God as well. If you chose to convert, of course that's your decision but do it objectively and know what you're getting into regardless of what ever faith your choosing. But remember; you've gotta "practice what you preach." If you're going to do it, don't do it half way/its either you do or you don't. Universally though keep in mind that you reap what you sow. Do unto others as you want others to do unto you- the golden rule!

When you realize you've been a jerk, & if you are truly sorry,
you can make amends by repentance & restitution.
Catholics call this Contrition, Confession, & Penance.
But if you are not already Christian, you can call it conversion.

You'd be more of a jerk to bring in religion. That really gets people going!

Yes. You can also use it to invade an Arab nation and claim your God told you to make believers out of the inhabitants.
