First of all, Happy Rosh Hashanah.
Second, yesterday I asked a question and talked about what I think the Palestinains should do in order to achieve peace in Israel and Palestine. It is here: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsyGsaEjjjKMDJpm7i7x6iHBFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20070911080338AAaImDh

I got a lot of answers from Jews saying that they support my thinking but yet when another Yahoo Answers user asked a question about what the Israelis and the Arabs should do to make peace she got no answer except form me.

I think in order to acheive peace we both Palestinans and Israelis, Muslims and Jews have to admit our mistakes.
We both have to compromise. We, the Palestinans also have the right to have our independant country and please don't start telling me about our origin because I know that but in the

1948 the people who lived there were already Palistinains and they weren't people with no identity. Even the jews there were called the Palestinain jews.

There are so many things the Israelis did that I don't agree with.
According to the Presbyterian Church (USA, 2006), the United Nations gave the Jews 56.47% of the land and 43.53% to the Arabs and the Arabs were not allowed to lead the country. This made them angry and they attacked the Jews. However, the Jews defeated them and occupied 78% of the land and about 750000 Palestinians became refugees followed that the six days war in 1967 where abot 500000 more Palestinians became refugees. My question is do you think it was fair for the Israelis to occupy the remaining 21.25% of the land? were the 56.47% enough to shulter them. I mean war is a war and the Arabs were wrong when they attacked them but why were the Israelis not satisfied by defeating them and why did they not withdraw from the occupied regions after the war?

I know the Israelis did not force the Palestinians to leave their homes but that bad conditions that they put them in made them leave it plus the encourgment that they recieved from the Arab leaders who convinced them that they will return shortly.
Another thing is the humilation that is done now. Some Palestinian children are being shot by the Israeli soldiers just for throwing stones at them. Those are children and if their parents are dumb and they didn't know how to raise them what is their fault? I don't think stones hurt to an extent that makes you shot the person who threw them at you.
Third, the way the huge number of palestinians that the Israelis keep in their prisons and the way they treat them according ot BBC News Online (2003).

2007-09-12 14:11:42 · update #2

Also don't you think that the Israelis reaction is overestimated most of the time? An example of that is what they did in Lebanon last year. They distroyed the whole country , it bridges, its fuel stations, the hospitals, the streets and killed more than and thousand Lebanese people most of them are innocent civilians for only two of their soldiers were kidnapped. I know Hizbollah made some distruction in Israel as well but not as horrible as the distruction and the losses the Israelis caused.
I also hate the way Israel has sometimes bulldozed Palestinian houses, torn down olive trees, and destroyed Palestinian farmland.

In order to make real peace, the Israelis should return all the land that doesn't belong to them, the land they occupied in 1967. This the only way and please don't tell me that the whole land belongs to them from the origin. You are right that many jews lived there before 1948 but also many Arabs lived there long long time before. The Canaanites were Arabs too. Also God doesn't give happenes to people and steal it from others. He didn't give you Israel and tell you kick those who lived in it before you out and occupy their land. Did he? So both the Israelis and the Palestinains have the right to live there according to what the UN gave them and thus the Israelis should return the whole land they occupied in 1967.

Most of Oslo accord was in favor of the Israelis and most of its principles were not followed by both the Israelis and the Palestinans. Oslo was supposed to be a peaceful accord but it failed to be so.

Israel was the land of Arabs before it becomes a Jewsih land and I think I talked about the Cananites above who were arabs and lived there beofre the Jews.

Tabatha, I don't understand how a mice and a peaceful girl like you is trying to Justify the Israelis killing about thousand innocent people for only three Israeli soldiers although the israeli soldiers are still alive. You are also saying that Hizbollah made some distruction to Israel. I think I said that too in my details but you can't deny that the destruction that the Israelis did to lebanon is way more serious than the Hizbollah did to Israel. There is no comparison at all. And besides, the Israelis are rich and they can rebuild what was destroyed but Lebanon is a poor country. Do you know that there are still people sleeping out in schools and mosques because they government couldn't afford to rebuilding their homes?
My uncle had a car accident before the war and he broke both legs and on the same day when he was supposed to have a surgery, the israelis hit the hospital, luckly he hadn't been there yet but he couldn't have the surgery on time and now he has a permanent

a permanent disability. He lost his job as a dessert maker because of that and until now he couldn't find another job because he is disabled not only a disabled but a palestinain disabled. His children don't have a piece of bread to eat now. My uncle is just an example of the hard situation caused by the war last year and yet some people try to justify what the israelis did to lebanon and many innocent people there.

Mimi first thank you, and happy ramadaan to you too.
I too believe everyone should compromise.
Like in their private family when then compromise for their wife/kids same goes to all the society that's the only way.

Hi Mimi,

Firstly let me wish you a good Ramadan!

You already know, I think, that I agree compromise must be reached. Both 'sides' have made mistakes, of course they have. Anyone who argues with this is being totally unrealistic.

I think the problem right now is that it all becomes a vicious circle. Israel can't open a dialogue with Hamas, because Hamas refuses to recognize Israel. Also, if Israel does indeed return pieces of land, how does Israel have a guarantee of secure borders? I know you will understand why this is such a vital concern.

I think that of course the Palestinians must have their own state. But will the Palestinians stop, for example, screening such terrible programmes about Jews on their TV? I've viewed some of them and they are really horrendous!

Do you think that Israel and Fatah can work together? Please tell me, I am really interested in your thoughts on this - I think Fatah would be the best peace partner for Israel because they've said they are willing to hold talks.

Also, I know you feel Israel's response in Lebanon was uncalled for. But on the other hand, three young soldiers had been snatched and in addition, there are ongoing rocket attacks on Israeli towns. Israel wanted to tackle Hezbollah, and Hezbollah does use civilians as a shield...

How do we stop Hezbollah from attacking Israel? Israel and Lebanon have such a troubled history, to see a true peace between them would be AMAZING.

I believe peace is possible, it's just getting everyone to the table that's the problem!

Salam and Shalom, I hope Ramadan and Eid prove lovely for you.

Mimi, no offense to you but you seriously need to brush up on some history. Arabs, Canaanites, and Jews are all related, in that they are semitic peoples. Arabs are not Canaanites- Arabs originate from Saudi Arabia and the gulf region.
The biggest mistake Arabs say is that the Philistines were "palestinians." Totally false. Philistines were an indo-european people who migrated to the land of Israel from the Aegean island of Crete (off the Greek mainland), and were previously known as the "Sea peoples." Arabs first migrated to Israel around 700 CE when they swept out of the Arabian peninsula under the military banner of Islam, whereas Jews had been there since around 2000 BCE. While you can't ignore the palestinian problem, because it is one today, by fact of history, Jews have been in the land at least 2,700 years before the Arabs. No bias intended, just open a book about Western Civilization's history.

i'm a Jew, and that i've got not got any ill thoughts in the direction of Germany or the German human beings. i might desire to in no way forgive and forget approximately what the Nazis did, and to in the present day time i'm disgusted that the accepted public of the German inhabitants (and the worldwide) of the day grew to become into silent. That suggested, I understand that Germany in the present day is amazingly diverse. After the Holocaust, a German government grew to become into democratically elected, and since the Holocaust, Germany has performed its ultimate to make amends. Even in the present day the government of Germany is making financial money to Holocaust survivors, and Germany is a focused best chum of Israel. i've got not got a undesirable opinion of Germans in the present day, in no way.

Mimi,

First off, Happy Rosh Hashanah.

At this time I would like to tell you, whole heartedly that I understand you and that I as a Jew do want Israel to make peace with the Palestinians for as long as possible but I will have to disagree with the PLO that the only way for Israel to get peace is to give back some piece. That will never happen.

What everyone seem to forget is Muslims and Jews are separated by religious beliefs and not Blood Lines.
So why all the fighting. The Jews are fighting for what TOTALLY belongs to them and always has. They were kicked out for a while but God never took the land from them.
Yes this is a Christian! A Christian Jew.
My ancestors were German Jews.
Peace will someday come and there will be MANY who will be surprised.
You are right Palestenians have every right to live and the right to live on Jewish land.
God doesn't care what you are but rather what you believe.
Why do you think Christians back up the Jews?
Not because we are uncaring, but because we do care. We see No point in believing in a God that says Terrorize Nations and men, women and children. What is the point.? For piece of land that belongs to GOD and He who chose to give it to his chosen people.
YOU DO HAVE A KIND HEART
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
(Matthew 5:9)

That is what Christians think and believe.

Happy Rosh Hashanah.

The PLO and Israel to come to friendly terms without having to insult each other or to have Israel return some piece of land for some peace of mind.
