...As for my enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them and slay them before me.

Luke 19.27

OK, here's the context.

19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
19:28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

What kind of context could mitigate the evil sentiment of that verse? Anything other than "There are some that say that they must be obeyed, and say:" wouldn't, and the actual context doesn't.

You took that out of context and you know it.

Luke 19:27 is talking about the Judgement

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay [them] before me.

whoever rejects God is an enemy of God and the judgement against them is the spiritual death and seperation from God.

This verse is ripped out of a parable, where a man is crowned king over his country, against the express wishes of a group of rebels.

Now, does the absolute ruler of a country have the right and the responsibility to handle terrorists that threaten his rule and his people? Duh, yes.

Whom should the King be loving towards in this circumstance? The terrorists or the loyal subjects? I guess it depends...

If the King is a Democrat, then he will heap love, affection, sympathy, and financial aid on the TERRORISTS.

If the King is a SANE individual, he will protect his LOYAL CITIZENS from the terrorists.

So, whom should we have our King aid and comfort? Who gets the "feel good" loves? Barabbas? Osama bin Laden?

A loving king, father, husband, etc. protects his subjects, wife, family, from evildoers. That is love also.

If you tell God that you don't want him to rule over you, yes you're in a heap of trouble. God only puts up with that attitude for so long.

The spin doctors will claim it is out of context.

Ask them why Jesus said he will come with a sword...... they will say that "sword" means truth.

Ask them why Jesus said he will cause division between father and son and they will put a spin on it.

Ask them why they believe Jesus will return and destroy all those who do not believe in him and they will tell you that it is for "your own good".

That was a parable Jesus used to show what would happen to the unbeliever at the time of judgment.

Pity for you.

I think it is done like this:

1. "God is love (because my pastor tells me so)"
2. "Anything that god does must therefore be out of love."
3. "Therefore when god kills, he is doing it out of love."
