MasterCard and Visa have been strong rivals from a long time, each competing to be faster and more universal than the other. Every benefit offered on the credit card of one brand, is soon offered by the other. Today both companies provide mostly similar benefits like travel insurance, car rental insurance, product warranty extensions etc.

Both cards are universally accepted by about identical number of merchants. Majority of the merchants round the world take both cards, or if a merchant accepts only one brand, the merchant next door accepts the other. Hence whatever you want to use for the credit card for, you can be assured you won’t be disappointed, just because you have only one brand. Except for a selected few events, where only one brand of card is accepted, most of the times you will be ok.

I do not find any difference between Mastercard and Visa, both are well accepted and giving good service. No idea about American Express.

If you mean to both words "credit cards" the difference between mastercard and visa is just the spelling of the word. You may choose any credit card as long as you will pay your credit when due.

they are 2 of the 4 largest credit companies. both companies are widely accepted, but in some places Visa is preferred. So unless you're planning on traveling to Africa it really does not matter which credit processor you go with. banks switch between MC and Visa (and AmEx) on various products because the contracts negotiated with the processing credit companies determines if there are rewards programs offered, interest rates, and card benefits.

There is no real difference. They're both major credit card companies. It's your choice which you want. Mastercard sounds to me more solid.

The best way to find the difference is to read the terms and conditions. It may take some doing but you will get an accurate description of each company. Don't think you will find very much difference though, they both over charge.
