Some people claim to not believe in absolute truth. How can it be a "belief"? Absolute truth is truth. Plain and simple. It is illogical to state that multiple truths can coexist. Isn't that like like saying that if you think 2+2=5, and I think 2+2=4, we're both right? Regardless of what the truth really is, shouldn't the argument be about who really KNOWS the truth instead whatever you BELIEVE is okay/not okay?

NO! the truth is what you feel in your heart!
Hypothetically speaking, if you had no money to buy your little sister a birthday present:

if you steal a box of crayons at the store for your little sisters birthday present, the truth in your heart was you were doing the right thing. But in others hearts the truth will more than likely be that you did the wrong thing.

You are both wrong, because the ultimate truth is you both made the wrong judgements. You had other options, and the others could have helped you out!

As far as the "absolute truth" that still remains to be seen.

Ultimately, it is your own best judgement from your own heart as to what YOU believe is the truth, No one and/or Nothing can ever say someone and/or something is not truth because there will always be another opinion, therefore the TRUTH is what you feel in your heart.

You commited theft, it's wrong because you took something that did not belong to you, so the others are right, but you did it for a good reason in your heart so you too are right.

What you may be experiencing is not necessarily that there is an "absolute" truth vs. an "inabsolute" truth, but rather, that different people see the same truth in different ways.

For example, let's use your equations to demonstrate:

The absolute Truth is 5.

Person 1: The absolute truth is 1 + 4!!!
Person 2: No it's not, it's 2 + 3!!!
Person 3: You're both wrong, it's 3 + 2!!!
Person 4: You're all idiots ---- it's 4 + 1, says so right here in my handbook!
The Divine: My dear sweet children, you are ALL correct, for the absolute truth is 5!

You see, with an absolute truth of 5, each of the four people came to the number 5 in their own way. Each thought their own way was right, because it worked for them. And since it worked for them, they "KNEW" everyone else had to be wrong.

But in the end, when the Divine speaks, we see that ALL are right, for the larger answer encompasses all.

Sometimes, the Truth is so absolute there are just multiple ways of viewing it.

Peace,

M.D.

Why is it an argument? Because too many people claim to have exclusive rights to it. Absolute truth must be physical in nature to be absolute for all. Religious and philosophical truth has always been relative to culture and ones immediate environment. Even the bible says that there is a time for EVERY purpose.

I think most people will agree there is an absolute truth in things like mathematics as you illustrate, but many believe that there is no absolute in morals, and no absolute truth about God because they really believe there is a God who revealed himself to people. Some believe there is a God who has not revealed himself, or multiple gods or other things. Or they believe that God is more of non-descript life force that you can interpret however it best suits you. I'm not trying to speak for everyone, but those are some ideas I've run across.

I don't need blind faith, my God is an absolute truth to me. Let me give you a few examples: I needed an answer about something really important. While I knew I shouldn't ask God for proof, I asked him to make a perched bird fly to a particular point I had in mind. The bird went. I've had that happen three times so far. I am psychic. I don't ask for you to believe. Every time I do a reading for someone I don't know, I am always right, never any mistakes. I know that comes from a still, small voice inside. I know who that comes from because I've always had it and always knew. It comes from God. I've always been able to hear Him. I know God. I feel God. I hear God, and when I ignore Him, I am always sorry I did. One time I heard Him tell me not to go on my motorcycle. I wanted to go, so I did. I broke my leg, and it's still bad after 25 years. I just injured it again, I'm 50 now. He meant it when he warned me. There’s so much more I would like to say here, but enough is enough.
Peace

The absolute truth reporter has to be an authorized person just like a postman has to be authorized. Not that any person dressing as a postman can manage letters all over the world. But an authorized person can do that very easily.

If you believe in one truth
1:0=~, its unlimited.
So to find out the unlimited truth you should start it from one belief and keep contemplate it and seeking the truth with zero prejudice then u will find many possibilities.

Yes.....nail on the head. Now, do you have any suggestions about how we can constructively argue about "who really KNOWS the truth instead whatever you BELIEVE is okay/not okay"? By the way, WHO do you think really knows the truth?

Be wise until after you get the facts, learn to call a cease fire (cool down before we say something hurtful to ourselves and others),Speak truthfully what you feel in your heart Ephesians 4:15,talk to God and who you disagree with, agree to disagree without being disagreeable, hear what the other reasoning may be,everyone will not always agree. Let God handle out come.

You are starting to sound like a philosopher.

I don't know about "absolute" truth.

If something is true, then it is just true.

Beliefs have nothing at all to do with what is true.

Beliefs may coincide with what is true or may be completely off base.

Knowledge, on the other hand, must be verified, and therefore, must be true.
