In the small print at the bottom of the page, there is a disclaimer which states essentially that The Church of Google is not affiliated with Google Incorporated. This means:
1.) Google, Inc. is not claiming to be God.
2.) People are not worshiping Google, Inc.
3.) You can't condemn a mere legal entity (The Church of Google) to Hell.
4.) You may think it's idolatry but, these days, it's apparently how business is done.

Google is not claiming to be God. People (probably not even people associated with Google,Inc) are making a joke about people's religious beliefs. It is actually a very funny put-down of deists of all kinds including those that think that they are gods themselves (ie the secular humanists). And just goes to show that not all atheists are humorless idiots. BTW some of the highest executives in Google are committed Christians.

thats pretty interesting. google represents the combined intelligence of every human being in the world, as close to omniscience as anything the human mind can possibly imagine. i actually got a really good laugh out of that!
honey, you really need to calm down. nobody's worshipping google. i dont know if all you read was the url address, but to me it just seems like an intelligent and creative way to compare two very different things. besides, who are you to tell people they should follow one way of life or face eternal damnation?
