To feel special during the pregnancy too.. I seem to be getting loads of attention from him and other family members and he is working very hard to provide for the family and be at my beck and call when I need things helped with.

How can I show him how much I appreciate his help, hardworking, etc...

I want him to feel like a special daddy too!

I am 23 weeks, he talks to my belly, rubs it and kisses it, its so sweet and special he is looking forward to the day he can feel his boy kick him back!!
What can I do to make him feel like a special daddy in the meantime and not just the provider?

If you know what I mean, please provide some helpful tips or suggestions that have worked for you in the past maybe?

Thanks heaps!!

Here's the good news.

You're already being good to him because of your giving nature - and believe me it shines through your words by caring what he feels.

Men are happy with happy wives. Thats all. The nicest things you can say (good advice to all) is:

"You're such (or going to make) a good daddy."

etc, complimenting someone is one of the nicest things you can do, and never taking your "bad" day out on him will give you a happy marriage. When both people make small consistent efforts to make it work - it really does.

Showering him with attention and nice dinners means nothing when its short term. Successful couples always do "small" nice things for each other on an ongoing basis.

In other words, 20 nice dinners a month is nothing compared to 20 nice dinners a year. Consistency (in small doses) is key! Trust me - it works!

Shower him with attention...you won't have much time after the baby arrives. Make special dinners, sit in the evenings and chat about your future plans, buy baby items that say "I Love My Daddy", etc. Let him know how happy you are with his attention to you and the baby, and how much you appreciate his seeing that you will all be provided for. Write him a love letter. Have pictures taken of you in full bloom for him to cherish in years to come. Above all, let your happiness show.

have the bath water ready and waiting for him when he gets home. If he reads the paper or a special book have it available. While laying down in bed, sitting on the couch, give him little massages, play with his hair. small special touches will let him know that you love and appreciate him. words dont have to be said. just all these small things will add up and you can feel better about yourself .lol

I asked my husband to pick the "coming home" outfit for each of our kids. He went out the day after each of ours was born to pick out whatever he wanted. Then he went home and washed it and brought it to the hospital to surprise me. It made him feel so important. Also, for the first Christmas, I asked him to go out and buy a special Dad to kid gift. He loved doing this and we still have the outfits and the first Christmas gifts.
