First off, the suspension may need to upgraded. I say may, because the Viper engine is aluminum, and may not be too heavy for the 1500. The V10 in Dodge pickups have a cast iron block, and only fitted to 2500 series.
The Viper engine develops so much power, all Vipers come with a 6 speed manual transmission. You may have to get a transmission from a Viper, or the heavy duty automatic from the V10 pickups.

ACCORDING TO MY MANUAL the viper trans from a v-10 w8ill line up to the ram 1500.....so that means the ram will also line up to the viper engine mounts with little problem of mounting space on the bolt pattern.

not on a half ton frame you can't, it doesn't have the needed support for the strait six engine, that and the weight of the diesel engine is much more than a gas engine is,to do this right you,d have to use a different frame, that and the length of th engine would require you cut out part of the firewall, good luck.

Probably not... A dodge viper is built for speed; where as your dodge 1500 was built for torque. You might have to modify your transmission or replace it. I would ask the dealership if this is possible. Truly, anything is possible if you want to make a ton of modifications and pay the $$.. Good luck. That will be one sweet truck.

No you can't use your old trans. Although you could purchase a trans out of an srt-10 ram (automatic or stick shift). The best thing you could do is try and find a wrecked srt-10 truck, buy the trans, trans wiring, and the trans computer out of it.

it depends if you want the ram for speed or towing capacity. For maximum speed your going to want to change the transmission. If not there is no need to change it and it should install perfectly. (Just make sure it fits;-))
