I question the critically thinking abilities of anyone who subscribes to that kind of circular reasoning.

I agree that this whole discussion is based on faulty reasoning. It's pointless to debate "is the Bible true." The Bible is made up of writings of all types of literary genres. The Psalms are worship songs and poetry, how is that true or untrue? Some books in the Bible were written to be history, but it's history as seen and recorded by people with a certain worldview, some of it is historically accurate, much of it isn't. But that doesn't mean the Bible doesn't contain truth. I don't know why this is such a difficult concept for "doubters."

Are you serious? The circular logic which claims the Bible is true because the Bible claims to be true is total bunkum. You have not been in error. Apparently, Fundies cannot understand this, but everybody else does.

I am not a doubter, but rather a believer. Why do non believers always use quotes or beliefs from fundamentalists? They are the lowest common denominator in Christianity. There are many well thought out and sensible religions today.Religions that don't think science contradicts our beliefs, but rather it explains just how God does create.

I'd, bluntly, say yes, you're wrong... but maybe you should start studying the bible critically now that you've come across this flimsy excuse for the bible being truth. It's really for you to decide. But attain a critical eye. You might be surprised at what you see.

Actually the most researched and critically studied book int he world is the Bible and it still stands today. It is a huge asset in MidEast archeology.
This assertion is by those that are too lazy to actually research the bible (I was a very active athiest in my younger days and never once relied on the cop answers that I see here in every post...it is really hard to even take most of this serious :oP )

If the Bible says it is true then, hallelujah, it must be true. It says so doesn't it? The Bible never lies. It is true. I love the Bible.
Praise be to the bully in the sky!

Circular reasoning just does not appeal to me. Even if it were true, believers would not be justified in beliving it. For they would have no good reason to - which is way they cling onto that silly thing called faith.

Well, as an uncivilised primitive, I regard writing as highly magical, and the idea that something written down might be false never crosses my mind. So YES!
