demons , familiar spirit and mediumship?

Question

I am puzzled by this whole familiar spirit thing
I am told that as a medium , it is demons trying to trick me

I have a few questions in regards to this
I am told that they do this to lead us away from God .... but in my work I have begun to believe in God ... so surely that isnt true

if enlightened spirits , angels and all things good cannot contact us
how is it that lower spirit , demons or whatever you want to call them can ?
who teaches them and allows this ?

I just find it amazing to think that demons or bad spirit are allowed out of hell to wander freely
what happened to being eternally tortured in hell ? ... or are they allowed day release to pretend to be our loved ones who have passed ?

Demons are not just concerned with turning people away from God, even if people worship God in a way that is unacceptable to Him is good enough for them.

Hellfire is not a Bible teaching so demons do not come out of it. The words often translated as Hell are Sheol (Hebrew) and Hades (Greek), these words simply mean the grave.

Revelation 12:7-9 says: "And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him."

Satan and his demons want to mislead people either to false worship or disbelief. False doctrines such as Hellfire have only served to help that deceit.

1 John 5:19 says that "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."

2 Corinthians 4:4 "The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through."

The ruler and god of this system of things is Satan the Devil. At Matthew 4:1-8 Jesus is tempted by Satan. In verse 8, Satan takes Jesus to "an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory." Then Satan made an offer: "All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me."

This wouldn't have been much of an offer if Satan didn't have the 'all the kingdoms of the world' to give. No doubt Jesus would have been quick to point that out, but he didn't.

It would be wrong to conclude that we get no assistance from angels since Revelation 14:6 says: "And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, and he had everlasting good news to declare as glad tidings to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people."

As far as I know familiars are not daemons, they are incarnated spirits that have been sent to help people with special missions on Earth. Now what you say totally makes sense. Why should only the bad side be able to contact us? People like to think everything is evil, they attribute every thing they cannot explain to the work of the devil, they blame the devil when they do things they shouldn't. I say that's just a way of avoiding feeling responsible for one's own actions.
Daemons? They probably exist but not like those horned beings crawling out from hell. There are dark forces working on this plane as there are good ones. Within this illusory existence there's still good and evil, and evil beings are what people have called daemons. Things is, all our ideas and conceptions of these higher and lower beings are from ancient times, when humanity was but a whisper on the land. Wouldn't we be daemons or angels to primitive cave people? Well, I think that's how it was. Of course, these beings were much more evolved than us, counted on better technology and were spiritually developed.
Mediumship? I think it's possible, everyone has undeveloped, potential psychic power, some are naturals, some develop it. It is possible to contact other realities, higher or lower entities. I'm not so sure about the dead, it can probably be done too. A good friend is making me ponder about it.
Anyway, these are just my opinions on the subject, who knows? I know I haven't got the ultimate answer, at least.

You and I very briefly talked about this in an email. I too have had experiences with Mediumship. I REFUSE to believe that the only people who can "contact" us are evil spirits who are hell bent on dupping us in to thinking its someone else. I do not think that an evil spirit could create the love that washes over my body and soul when I deliver a message to someone in need of that last message from a loved one.

I am tired of hearing "if you keep tampering with that evilness you'll be going to hell in a hand basket". That is one of the reasons I am no longer a Christian. The abilities of the Divine are limitless and I am tired of listening to those who want to place limits that should never be there. How does ANYONE know what is or is not possible because of the Divine? Just because the bible (insert holy book) says so doesn't mean it is truth.

Remember folks that the ONLY people who could read and write in these times were the scribes and priests, as well as the families wealthy enough to provide some kind of "education" for their children. Think about it: Priests and the Wealthy, in control of what is or is not put in to the holy books for all to "believe". Kind of makes you wonder what the real truth is, and what was the hidden agenda for those who first put their "truths" to paper!!

Kind of sounds a lot like what we still deal with today: Priests and the Wealthy in charge of what is or is not put to print. "When they own the information they can bend it all they want".

I say, continue with your experiences. You seem to know well enough what you feel to be right or wrong/good or evil. I'm sure you do what is necessary to guard yourself when you practice your gifts. People will always be narrow-minded and ill informed about things they don't understand and have no desire to understand better.

I wish I could answer your ? but the truth is I have no ideal. I do believe that God can allow anything He wants. Includeing letting angels and passed loved ones contact you if He wants but that is all up to Him.
I try not to think about mediums and psychics. I do know that the bible speaks against this in several places like Leviticus 20:27, Is 29:4, Is 8:19- this is the one I remember best on mediums....demons are spoken of alot Duet 32:17 Psalms,Matt,Mark,Luke,John,1 Cor.,1 Tim, James,Rev, and familiar spirits are spoken of in only 2 places that I am aware of Lev 19:31 and Lev 20:6. and these verses say give no attention to them and do not chase after them. And it says if you mess with this stuff God will set His face against that person and cut him off from his people.

I have to admit that I have been really enticed by this stuff and I seem not to be able to turn the TV off the channel when any ghost hunter or medium or even ghost stories are on. I guess I need to be more vigilant about not giving my attention to this stuff. Cause obviously God does not like it at all!

I guess:
Demons and Angels do the work that GOD set for them. Demons tempt and Angels protect when people ask GOD for protection. Each person is tested and blessed.
Other than this I can't think of how to respond.
Oh, another guess I have: A person or demon could sit in the lap of GOD and still feel the fires of hell, so walking around or actually in hell is still suffering the punishment of GOD.
Same with distance if GOD loves you, protects you - GOD is there no matter where you are. Heaven is the love of GOD enveloping you - in heaven or could also be anywhere.

The Demons, Devils so on are the angels who were Kicked Out of GOD's Kingdom and The Planet Heaven. (we usually say Kicked Out of Heaven).

The Good Angels of GOD Can Contact Human Beings.

The Bad angels are always Trying to Kill, Steal and Destroy US (All Human Beings).
They Hate us, we look like GOD and can Make it Back to Heaven (Planet Heaven) and they CANNOT, EVER.
They HATE us.

They Use Deception all of the time, satan is the Father of Lies.

Some Really Bad angels are Still Chained in Hell.
Others are free to Roam.
They have an Heirarchy. Kinda like an army.
As you Sin, you open yourself up to these "Things" (they are not Human Beings, but angels, servants). If you Continue in this Sin, you can Call Others out of the Pit (Hell) and if you get Enough, you will have a Hard Time comning out of that Sin---and if you are not Saved, you could Actually Become Possessed by these Creatures because of the Number of them that You called out of the Pit by Sinning.

There are Other Things too, plenty of Good Christian Teaching CD's out There to Explain all of this.

The bible warns against getting involved in mediumship, spiritism and witchcraft for a reason. That reason, is becausue God knows that it is not good for us spiritually.
Demons work through spiritism by leading people away from scripture and prayer, which develops faith in God.
Faith is God gives us hope, but going to psychics and mediums is a path to hopelessness. They just take your money and give you empty promises.
If you don't believe me, book yourself three readings next week and you will see that each one is different.
The demons give you information from the dead, because they also watch us and know everything about our lives.
Don't be fooled or led astray.

Hi Pangel.

I'm a "Latter-day Saint" (aka Mormon). We believe in the Bible AND in continuing revelation... spiritualism, in a sense.

LDS scripture only has a very little to say about people with familiar spirits (ie in the Bible), but it has quite a bit to say about listening to "the still small voice," having the gift of prophecy, etc. We use different words to you, but I have a feeling that the fundamental meanings are the same.

Heaps of LDS that I know talk about experiences where, while doing family history, or temple work, they have had dreams or impressions from their kindred dead. They consider these experiences sacred and light-filled.

Really, what it all comes down to is this: That which is of the Light, produces light (love, joy, peace, etc)... Those who live immorally, greedily, selfishly, or fearfully are inviting evil (spirits) into their lives. Those who practice divine law (aka love, self-denial) are, by their actions, inviting only good spirits to work with them.

You are right that there are both good an evil spirits.

I am convinced it is an immutable law of the universe, which disembodied spirits can't decline, to respect the desires and free will of every living being.

Belief is a VERY strong kind of permission for the spirit world to interact with you. If you ensure that your actions, speech, thoughts and beliefs are continually inviting goodness, purity, humility, love, truth, hope, peace, etc, to come into your life, then there is nothing to fear. Only good will come to you.

As far as I know, a bad spirit may tell you nice things, but it will depress you, while a good spirit, no matter what their message, will uplift you. I wouldn't dabble, if I were you unless you were well prepared beforehand, and not doing this by yourself. In fact, I'd get acquainted with a priest now and then just to have a pillow to fall on if you have to. Cushion. I meant cushion.

Demons are not locked away yet. It's up to St Michael the Archangel to lock the Prince of Darkness and His minions up. In fact, the Evil One has been given free rein these past few decades, unless you didn't notice the disease, famines, droughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, wars and apostacy lately.

Yes, familiar spirit is a demon taking on the form of a person. As a medium, you are being lead in the wrong direction from God. satan does not care if you believe in God, it says that he does believe and trembles. But when you try to come to God, being born again, he will fight you tooth and nail. I use to worship satan, I would see him and demons during rituals and at home. When he would visit me personally, he was so nice and acted like he cared. I considered him to be my friend. After becoming a Christian I went through a deliverance and had demons cast out. That evening I was laying on the couch and he walked through the door, all nice and asked me to come back to him. I quoted a scripture and before my eyes he turned into the most hateful and ugly being I have ever seen. I saw him for who he really is. They Holy Spirit is probably drawing you to want to know more about God, and Jesus dying on the cross for you. When Jesus died, He took away satans authority here on earth (because of Adam and Eve's sin they gave the earth to satan. God had given the earth to Adam at first). satan would love to take the credit for anything good that is happening to you, but he is a liar and deceiver, and he is said that he comes to kill, steal and destory. He cannot do good. demons can contact you, especially if you have opened yourself up to them in any way, like being a medium. demons want you to think that you have power, but you don't, it is just a trick to keep you in bondage. God has allowed satan to stay on the earth until the end, when He will send him to the lake of fire with all the demons. Good angels are here to protect us and keep us in God's care.
