Today he gave my sister this big lecture about how sacred marriage is and how its important for kids to not be born out of wedlock. Which is fine but my dad has been married 5 times. And he has seven kids and apparently he takes pride in never concieving a child out of wedlock, my mom divorced him before my brother was born so they were not married when he was born. Now granted for the most part he praticed what he preached but how can a man on his 5th wife that cant stay married for more then 6 years preach to someone else about how sacred marriage is? I told her she should have laughed in his damn face.

I have to agree with you unless he finally learned his lesson and now believes marriage is sacred, but it sounds like a major hypocrite to me, or a dad who does not want his daughter to make the same mistakes he did.

Hypocritical.....yes; a little. In his defense, I think parent's always want their kids to do what they perceive to be the right thing. Personally, I know there are many things I have done that I will never want my kids to do and try to instill in them the negative results of such actions. I won't pretend that I was a saint all my life to them, either, though.

He probably doesn't want you girls to make the same mistake. If he messed up four times and is working on his 5th...he should be an expert at what failed marriages can do to you. But, he really shouldn't say he is the expert on the sanctity of marriage.

Before you judge, Listen to him for he has had the tract record to prove what he is saying..He loves you and surely don't want you to follow in his steps for if you are not careful, his generational curse of divorce could find it's way into your life..Marriage is sacred and if you don't uphold it's sacredness, then marriage is never for you..Please listen to His words not from his example..

You will eventually learn that it's a man's world.
Religion, marriage, law, etc. are all man's creations and favor men.
This is the same world-wide, and there's no escape from it.
Stay within the guidelines you can, and things will be easier.
