I've been running/walking for an hour seven days a week. My parents and doctors think I'm overdoing it. Is this too much? How much should I be doing?

You need to stay hydrated and eat right. The more someone runs the more calories they need to consume otherwise there's nothing to burn. They could be concerned that you seem to be losing too much weight or aren't eating enough to keep your body in balance. Definitely ask your parents or doctor if you want to know the specifics. I did have a friend who over exercised and she started getting sick and they found she also had low bone density (at only 21!) because she wasn't eating enough for as much as she exercised.

Doctor-s? How many doctors do you have? Perhaps you have a lot of medical issues, which make you unfit for exercise at the moment. Did you just start running and walking? If you did, they probably mean for you to warm up to an hour, as you're pushing yourself too far.

It probably is. Your body needs rest periods as much as it needs exercise and, depending upon the surface you're running on, you may be pounding your feet and joints pretty hard. Five days a week is usually good with a rest day every couple of days in there. Or reduce the length of time you're runnin/walking. Or crosstrain. Run/walk one day, swim another day. Swimming will keep your exercise going but is easy on the body so you won't develop shin splints and joint problems.

An hour of exercise per day is perfectly healthy, but... if you're doing it burn off calories from binging or overeating it's a form of bulimia. Are you sure there isn't another reason why your parents and doctors are concerned about you?

I would mix it up so that they don't notice it. A bit of yoga here, strength training there, running, tennis, other games, etc.

That way they won't call you on it. But it's really not that much for somone's who's ana---just consider the exercise bulimics! They spend all day at the gym!

Every-other-day is what the nurse at Curves tells us, as we need a chance to regenerate in between.
