U make a valid point. I am a huge Gordon fan so I would love to see that. You got to see where NASCAR is comming from. They made this rule to make winning races more important. That makes sure there is not another fluke Kenseth year.

After reading most of the answers... you are all a bunch of morons!
First, as far as the thoughts that somehow the final ten races are more important than the first 26 races and that the worth and quality of each driver is determined best in the final ten races is just plain stupid. Regardless of the fact that is how the chase is set up and NASCAR has their head up their a**, it doesn't make any sense. This is not like other sports where playoffs seem to have sense of fairness. You do not have to be Gordon fan to have enough common sense to accept the fact that the chase format allows a driver down 800 or 900 points to win a championship in the final ten races. That is ridiculous. What the chase format does is it makes only winning basically important and consistency not as important until the final 10. With point lead Gordon had going into the final 10, it would have been nearly impossible under the old system for Johnson to have won the championship this year. Making up 400 points in 10 races would have been very difficult. And do really think Harvick had any chance under the old system to make up nearly 700 points in the final ten races?
As far as should the rules have been modified because Gordon led the standing most of the season.... of course not. That would be favoritism and any true champion would not want to win that way. But NASCAR should take a look at the Chase and reevaluate it. This will be clearly the second time that Gordon was by far the best driver who should have had the championship locked up.
Let's face it; right now the Chase doesn't create better competition. Any smart driver would just focus on being in the top 12 and saving everything for the final 10. Gordon could have skipped the last 4 races and still made the chase. Even Stuart made comments the last few races that they just wanted to take chances and see if they could collect a few more wins. Coming in 2nd to 43rd doesn't matter if you are already certain to make the chase.... only coming in 1st. It's like putting in your second or third string players in a game that doesn't matter to make sure you are healthy for the playoffs.
NASCAR needs a new idea to make the Championship a true champion. Otherwise, why don't we just make the winner of Homestead the Champion so that the final race matters the most?

For the record, Junior doesn't have lousy equipment, he just does not know how to drive properly and abuses his engines.
Nascar has already done everything they could to make sure Junior made the chase, and that failed. They knew he was not a top ten driver so they changed it to 12 in hopes of him getting in. Next year will it be the top 15 drivers in hopes of getting him in?

I dont think of he could take transport of any "factors" for what he has performed by way of fact I dont think of everyone could take transport of particular therapy and changes should not be made "in simple terms by way of fact". I do experience that changes could be made for next year. Heck, they further 2 extra positions to the chase in simple terms to get JR in! it's going to be a shame if he doesnt win his 5th championship in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. He had published extra actual 10's and actual 5's in simple terms this year than alot of drivers have performed of their careers! Smokinuracing has a large theory...50 factors to the factors chief! Or 10 factors for a week you lead the standings.

I agree with Beth, 60 points is nothing over ten races. Lets see how NASCAR changes the Chase again next year.

20 to 60 points are nothing over 10 races. The chase was set this way because there was no reward for wins before and lots of people complained. Now wins set the chase standings and the rest are complaining. If your driver is really the best he will prevail over 10 races even if he is 60 points behind now.
