As a pagan you stick to what you do. Defend yourself and the rights of others. If you mean someone striking me well the situation should be assessed and acted upon. I find a good kick to the groin and a kick to the head works. Violence never solved anything. That's BOLLOCKS. Even earth loving Pagans have armies and soldiers to defend themselves from the gob shite little bastards in there neighbourhoods.

That's a false dichotomy. Either action may be appropriate, and there are more choices than two.

The context Jesus used to talk about offering the other cheek was an affront by a cruel authority or enemy:

Matthew 5:39
But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

This was Gandhi's highly successful campaign of passive resistance.

In other cases, running may be the most prudent course. For example, if Seung-Hui Cho is blazing away in your classroom building at Virginia Tech, you need to vacate the premises ASAP.

A third alternative is to stand your ground. For example, if someone attacks your religious faith, give your best answer and don't back down before mockery and sarcasm.

Cheers,
Bruce

Run, but not too far away so you can still identify them. Then call the police and report the assault. Have them arrested and press charges. Once the criminal trial is over and they are convicted, you are ready to go ahead with your civil suit. It's a guaranteed win, so you'll be able to come to a quick settlement and bank all of the persons assets. I think that might teach them a lesson and be a little more effective at preventing them from doing it again than turning the other cheek.

Running or turning the other cheek is not within my framework of thinking.

Another star question Coco. I try to turn my cheek, because God says we should; but I leave if I must. No one is perfect, until we see Him in heaven! I do my best, and almost never run away.

I can honestly say I turn the other cheek....

I never thought of it before but I hope I'll run when appropriate, but I've never had that much self preservation yet.

I never back down if it's important either.

I strike back if necessary and walk away if I can. If you always turn the other cheek then you are a sitting duck. If you always strike back you are a bully. I do what the situation calls for.

depends.. if the offense is very slight (non-injurious), then turn the other cheek if the offender apologizes and reforms. if the offense is great, then run.. one is not supposed to take repeated and grievous punishment from others to prove religious conviction.. a punching dummy is still a punching dummy. the question is soooooooooooo general - there is no perfect response.

It has been said "if your brother hits you on one cheek, turn the other also so he can hit you there also". But today it is said "Make sure you know who your brother is, he may need to turn his cheek, and never look at you again"

I have found in 95% of my experiences, it is better to turn the other cheek - it can wind someone up even more, but you are not to blame.
