Never mind the previous answers - people tend not to take problems seriously unless its theirs problems.

I believe what you're aware of current state of things in this area:

1) There the two FDA approved drug-based treatments - finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil,
2) There is a "hair transplantation" method - it involves relocating (transplanting) bald resistant hair follicles from the back and sides of the head (the donor areas) to a person’s bald or thinning areas. The transplanted hair follicles will typically grow hair for a lifetime because they are genetically resistant to going bald.
3) there is a low-level laser therapy - low level laser is shone directly on the scalp to stimulate hair growth through "Photo-Biostimulation" of the hair follicles).

As for that breakthrough you've heard about - it might be the prospective treatment of hair multiplication/hair cloning, which extracts self-replenishing follicle stem cells, multiplies them many times over in the lab, and microinjects them into the scalp, has been shown to work in mice, and is currently under development, expected by some scientists to be available to the public in 2009–2015. Namely, these scientists are UK biotechnology firm Intercytex (testing resulted in 70% of male patients regrowing hair) and Italian stem-cell researchers (Pierluigi Santi of a Genoa clinic). That Genoa clinic would be ready to perform its first hair transplants on priority patients - those who have lost their hair in fires or other accidents. After that they'll open their doors to paying customers. Santi's approach works by splitting roots and growing new follicles.

So, in a word, that "multiplication" technique is not available yet, so hair transplantation remains to be the major method to cure baldness. You can get an educational guide on hair transplantion (comes with DVD) here - http://fon.gs/hairguide , or consider seeing your local doctor.

Hi there,
There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall and you need to find out which one exactly is responsible for the problem you are having now. Of course male pattern baldness is still the most common cause, but, for instance, if you are a woman things are deinitely different! This is the reason why you will need to really dig down and see the source of your problem.

Other causes of hair loss may include (both in men and women): severe mental or emotional stress, excessive use of coloring or bleaching agents, traction alopecia or excessive strain on the scalp due to braiding or corn rowing, hormonal changes, alopecia areata or hair loss due to autoimmune diseases, and many more. Each of these conditions will require a different approach in order to achieve success regardless of whether you're going to be using conventional or natural methods.

In my opinion it's much better to use natural methods as opposed to conventional ones, they're cheaper, have less to no side effects, and often more effective.

A good way of regaining your full head of healthy natural hair is well described on this guide: http://hairagain.toptips.org

There isn't a cure for baldness - that is a fact. All these lotions and potions are scams and anyone who pays extortionate prices should have the remaining hair on their head shaved off and sent to Purgatory!

No, sadly no cure. But you can try Propecia, a drug. It's proven to regrow hair. The only product to do so. Go see your clinician to get a prescription. It also goes by Proscar which is a drug that helps with an enlarge prostate. When tests were done to see about the effect of the prostate they found that patients hair grew.

There are already 2 drugs that do induce hair growth in male pattern baldness, finesteride and minoxidil. Unfortunately they both have limited effects and these wear off when you stop either drug.
