I usually tuck into the fetal position because I have found it is easier for me to pray.

I walk away...pure and simple. When an argument heats up to the degree that there is screaming, I turn my back, ignore the insults and possible flying objects and walk away, going as far away as I need to to avoid that person for the time being.
Unless they feel like screaming at an empty room, that prevents the argument from getting worse, or hard to forgive things being said, or somebody getting physically injured.

Forty some years and she has never raised her voice. She is just that way. As for a boss screaming at me, it has never happened. I have never screamed at anyone and I do not expect anyone to scream at me

First thought - mash his head with a fry pan
2nd thought ( and more practical, less blood) - leave the area immediately. He sounds pretty stupid yelling at an empty room

(((Uncle Wayne)))
I have been blessed with a very calm respectful man and very seldom does he raise his voice...
When we do have a disagreement my first thought is to fix whatever it is that is wrong as soon as possible so we can go back to loving each other the way we should...life is too short to waist any precious time.
And my boss (ME) can be a real pain in the butt sometimes she is way to demanding and a total perfectionist. But she doesn't raise her voice at me because she knows who will win that argument ;)

I'll give you the acronym: STFU!! That's always the first thing I think. Of course, I usually think that when he says anything at all lol. He doesn't have to scream for me to think that.

My first thought is that she is trying to tell me something of importance. If that is not it, I quietly walk away after a soft reply.

That would depend on the reason for the screaming - good reason or bad reason...if you know what I mean.
