I believe a lot of temple work will be done during the millenium, maybe for those who we could never find any geology...
Interestingly enough, many times geneology is "found" through many different ways and we know it is the hand of the Lord at work... I know of a person who was searching and searching for a specific ancestor and that ancestor actually came to her in a dream and told her her name and where she could find record of her family in a journal. Pretty amazing. There are many instances where things like this have happened when otherwise there was no real hope of finding names..

Eventhough work will be done in the millenium, we are still commanded to do as much as we can here on earth.

The millions will be taken care of in God's time. Today baptisms are less than 1% of the death rate. There is no way to keep up with the names we know, much less to worry about the records we don't have. When I do a little research, the miracle is that the names that were hidden fall in my lap like ripe fruit.

Those that are not found now, will be found during the Millenium, the 1000 years that Christ reigns personally on Earth.

The reason to get as much done now is that these people could be waiting for their baptism as we speak. The sooner the better. It also helps us fill time doing useful things.

My understanding is that during the Millennium the veil between this world and the Spirit World will be so thin that names will literally be given to those doing the work from those on the other side. No one will be left behind.

I think the Mormons on here answered your question. Their explanation of their doctrine about this issue is dead on (pardon the pun). The question should be, "What is required for salvation"? Because if a person is saved by the grace of God through faith in Christ only. All this baptism for the dead is useless anyway...... IHS Jim

One of the reasons there is a "Millennium" -- a thousand years where Christ will rule and proxy work for the dead can continue.
