Family BBQ at my sister-in-law. She's making spicy hamburgers. What a fun, casual appetizer? Need to MAKE something, not just buy a bag of chips and a can of dip:)

Get a box of Wheat Thins, a small salami, and some cheddar cheese. Have the butcher thin slice the salami and cheese for you. The day of the BBQ, take a pizza pan and cover with spinach or lettuce. Arrange the salami and cheese on top, and pour the Wheat Thins into a bowl.

We like making a stuffed bread. I just put the ingredients for French bread in the bread machine and set on the dough cycle. When it's done, I roll it out and my hubby stuffs it with pesto, pepperoni, cheddar, feta, pickled jalapenos, roasted red peppers, the works. Then roll it up, seal the ends, and bake as usual. It's gotten rave reviews at family functions.

Some of my faves:

Mix half velveeta & half canned chili without beans. Melt in a crockpot & serve with tortilla chips.

In a crockpot, mix equal amounts of grape jelly & bottled chili sauce. Put a couple pounds of little smokies in, and heat until bubbly.

Throw wingettes in the crock & cover with a mix of half water & half soy sauce, cook until done.

Spread chive & onion soft cream cheese on soft tortillas, cover with a layer of thin-sliced hard salami. Roll up, chill, and slice into 1 " pieces.

Mix a packet of taco seasoning into a 16 oz container of sour cream. Spread on a flat dish or pan, then sprinkle with chopped lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheese, chopped onion, & sliced ripe olives. Scoop it up with tortilla chips.

Or mix cream cheese with a little milk until spreadable. Spread on a pretty dish, then spread that with a layer of cocktail sauce. Top with tiny shrimp or chopped crab & serve with crackers.

These are all easy, but proven winners. I never have any left!

carry my well-liked "firemans' secret recipe" ribs. i'm no longer a fireman, yet i stole it from one..yet hes cool with it, so once you're a fireman, no disrespect...purchase a slab of ribs, chop in gadgets of four, boil in water and garlic salt for approximately an hour. get rid of, place in plastic bags and pour in the sauce- use the main inexpensive, least thrilling bbq sauce, like "Hunts", and marinate over night. Throw on medium warmth for approximately 25 minutes..dont burn it! Meat will fall off the bone.

Yellow jello. Replace 4 tablespoons of water with fresh squeezed lemon juice. It tastes so good, it is almost addictive.
