They're supposedly protecting themselves from a Viral Outbreak like the Norwalk Virus or Milwakee Virus. Their damn protocol won't let me leave my Cabin. Mom is with me and she's been Confined too, but I'm Confined until the trip is over, Mom is just confined for 24 Hours.

I paid $750.00 for a 7-Day Cruise, but I was quarantined on the 5th Day. It's my 1st time and I was a little seasick on the first couple of nights. I also had a bit of diahrrea until last night. Not sure how, but it was probably from Food I wasn't used to, or Food that didn't agree with me. Every time I ate at the Windjammer Cafe on this vessel, I had diahrrea afterwards. I went to see the Doctor about it and he figured I needed to be Quarantined. I mean, WHAT THE F***!?

I tried to explain this to the Doctor but he couldn't get past thethe stubborn fact that I might have the Stomach Flu. I tried to reason with him that if it subsided by tomorrow, if I could go back out on the ship and say goodbye to my Friends, or if I could enjoy my last day on the Cruise Ship, but NOPE, I have to remain in my room.

This is uncivilized, unethical, and simply wrong. I feel like placing a Lawsuit on the Cruise Company. Heck, I feel like just going out of my room to enjoy my last couple of days under the impression that the Crew still thinks I'm locked in the room.

Is there some kind of Regulation in the book of protocols that I can use against the Doctor to leave my room? Or am I stuck in here until we dock in Vancouver, because I'm not paying $750 to watch TV, and I'm certainly not spending that much on a Cruise that I can't enjoy!

I mean I realize that they're just doing it to save their asses, but I truly feel fine right now.

It's a highly contagious virus, they're protecting the other passengers. Do you want to make your friends sick? Call the Dr. & get rechecked, maybe its not Norwalk & then you can go out. No matter how much it sucks you can't sue b/c they're not doing anything wrong. These are government regulations.

Well, you made one huge mistake. You went to the ship's doctor about being sick with diahrrea. The standard protocol for cruiselines is to quarantine the sick person for 48-72 hours and the other people in the cabin for 24 hours.

This happened to you on the 5th day of the cruise. Yep, you will be in the cabin for the rest of the cruise. You will get some kind of credit on another cruise that will have to be used within one year. You will not get a partial refund but only the credit. You mom will also get some credit toward a cruise.

This is written in their health codes so you cannot sue.

My husband and I went on the Norwegian Spirit Cruise From Hell in April of this year and the same thing happened. My husband got food poisoning (believe me, it wasn't Norwalk - the food was god awful and throughout the cruise, dozens of people were sick after eating the wretched food). We were told that if a person has diahrrea, that person along with anyone who is rooming with them gets quarantined for 24 hours. We were docked in Tortola and my husband and I were stuck in that god forsaken room for 24 hours. It sucked. There are a number of reasons I'll never cruise again (all thanks to NCL) but that topped it. It was their fault my husband ended up sick in the first place. Oh well. Can't do anything about it. Good luck to you. Forget trying to get any money back. They already have your money. They don't care.

This seems to be standard treatment for the symptoms you have mentioned. The virus is VERY contagious and can spread very fast in a confined space. I would follow the instructions of the doctor. When you get home, you and your mom should write a letter of complaint to the cruise lines. I know that some lines will give you a refund for the days you were confined if it was ordered by the doctor and you followed their instructions.

i dont think it would be right to sue. While yes it was unfair, but it would also be selfish and unfair to others if you got them sick.

While again yes, it does suck, it isnt uncommon.
