that i immediately had hearing loss and ringing in both ears. Will this go away in a few hours, or did I permanently damage my hearing?

It'll come back, but repeated noise injury will eventually cost you. Most of the older guys I know have poor hearing in the left ear (the one in front when shooting a rifle). I'd worry more about the slam-fire, or whatever it was, before somebody gets a hole in him. Get that fixed right away, or switch to a nice, sensible wheelgun that does what you tell it to.

Ringing in ears is an indication of damage to your hearing, but if it was only two shots from a gun, you probably won't notice any difference in hearing sensitivity in the long run. Wear ear muffs, and/or ear plugs. Both if you are very sensitive to the noise. Also, make sure you ALWAYS have the gun pointed in a safe direction when it is loaded, because anyone can make a mistake and accidentally fire a gun when they don't mean to.

Not likely but don't make it a habit. Also, if your gun decides to fire on its own, it's not safe to have or carry around. Get it checked out by a gun smith and make sure it doesn't happen again.

To avoid future hearing loss: Wear some hearing protection.

You should wear ear muffs... This damage is additive over a period of time. If your finger was off the trigger when the mechanism put the second shell in, then the weapon is defective... and dangerous. Take it to a gun smith. If your finger was on the trigger... pilot error.
