I'm aware this question is legitimately asked "everyday" and answered accordingly without reasonable responses or comments.

Logically, there is no reason for it, you come to argue against something you deem to be false, imaginary, figurative, non-existent... it's like arguing with the umpire that the pitch was a perfect strike, when there was no actual ball thrown... and it's before the game even started (so the game itself is "non-existent as well).

You come to argue and make believers think otherwise towards their belief? That's a horrible gesture. What has any believer here done to you? None of us have approached any of you in the street or come to your door, so don't get angry at us (R&S'ers).

It's logically impossible for any of you to answer any of our questions because you don't believe any of it, so any answer you give, is, intrinsically, wrong.

So, in all seriousness... why? Why waste your time? Why care? You have nothing to prove, so why push your beliefs as well?

I'm saying your wrong in respects to our questions. You can't answer a question you hold no personal belief or affiliation to.

That's like a chemist answering questions about astronomy... or whatever... they don't share a common ground. i'm just saying, you can't answer our questions because you don't have the appropriate understanding of it.

Answering questions based on the bible and questions based on faith are two different things.

There's a reason: the subject interests me.

Why would it be horrible to get theists thinking critically about their faith? Usually people take for granted the beliefs they've been indoctrinated into; is it such a monstrous crime to encourage people to take a closer, more rational look at their beliefs?

Oh, and just because we can't provide the answers you THINK are right doesn't mean we're wrong. Perhaps the answers you're expecting will be nothing but more lies. Perhaps you need us to finally give you a straight, real answer.

First, have you missed all the times the question is answered...repeatedly...?

Second, I have an interest in religion as a subject. I am also affected by it, as are other atheists, and we have no choice about this. Therefore I talk about it in the appropriate area.

What have other believers done to me? Just spend a few minutes looking around R&S to see all the evangelism, all the bashing of atheists (if I had a pound for each time I was called evil or immoral, just because I'm an atheist, I could retire now, at 23).

What makes you think we're getting angry at you? We're just pointing out the flaws in your religion. It isn't a personal attack, and I won't apologise just because you decide to take it as such.

It's not logically impossible for us to answer questions. Many of us were christians before we realised it was false. We have knowledge of the bible, we just disagree with it. On the other hand I have seen christians here flat out deny things in the bible, simply because they didn't realise it was in there. Besides, who is better qualified to answer a question on atheism? An atheist or a christian?

Wow this seems a little sour. Why waste YOUR time, why try to PROVE anything to anyone when their beliefs may be just as strong as yours? Why care what they say then? We're all here being pushy, right? Why ask a question & then complain about the answers you recieve? You DID ask, right? Questions like this make me wonder about the asker... did you know you are on a PUBLIC forum? Or did you just want to get something off your chest?

"It's logically impossible for any of you to answer any of our questions because you don't believe any of it, so any answer you give, is, intrinsically, wrong."

Example of why you are wrong:

Q: What bible book says I should not eat shellfish?

A: Leviticus.

Apparently my atheism is preventing me from answering that correctly I guess, right?

Edit: Oh man you made an even dumber statement. Apparently only people of that specific profession can answer questions on a subject. A chemist can't answer an astronomy question?? So if he was asked the name of the North Star he couldn't answer? Man are you dumb.

Quite frankly, because this is one of the few places where I can express my beliefs. Plus, it's fun to meet new people and learn new things about the various religions.

P.S. Thank you so much for using a logical argument! This question is asked in a dim-witted way too many times.

I'm here because of Evolution, not Creation. I'm here because of science, not religion. I'm here because of logical reasoning, not blind faith. I'm here because the need for balance, not one-sided dogma. I'm here to catch you if you fall down, should it be finally revealed that there is no God, and to applaud you if it turns out that you were right all along.

We are all, in truth, agnostics, because although you believe very strongly that there is a God, and athiests believe very strongly that there isn't a God, these are, after all, just beliefs, not true knowledge: none of us really know!

It is intrinsically wrong to state there is no actual answer to a question founding on false premises? Like what is the 62nd state of the U.S.? We are here just to show that you should at least put forth a little speculation, to wonder why you have your beliefs, and to then realize that there are people who disagree with you.

It's not horrible at all. What's horrible is how believers cannot see how much of a negative influence a belief of God has on our world. Beyond the wars and killings that go on in the name of God, they are also brain dead when comes to dealing with the reality of this world. It's getting very crowd and complicated. The more realistic a view everyone has, the better our chance of surviving.

I'm here for the same reason as our founding fathers. Our civil rights were instituted to protect the FEW, not the many as so many believe. Christians are protected because of the massive numbers of participants. Before they go to far and say ALL have to believe as they do, I'm here to show our numbers and to DEMAND that Christians stop trying to recruit everybody.

Peace.

Same reason that theists go out and try to convert people over to their system of belief: "If I can convince you to share my beliefs, I will feel more confident in my beliefs at the end of the day!"

On a more superficial level, people who believe in God resent atheists for not believing in God, so they try to convince them to find God. People who are atheists resent people who believe in God because He doesn't exist (according to their beliefs).

Both are throwing rocks from a glass house, but no one ever asks why that happens... If you were really confident in your beliefs, you wouldn't be insecure enough with them to try to convince other people to join you in them.
