I think the kitten needs to be de-wormed.
Could also have lactose intolerance, are you giving it cow's milk/

Have you given him cow's milk ? That has a tendency to do that.
Do not give him cow's milk because cats have a tendency to be lactose intolerant and gas is just the beginning. Buy some kitten milk.
Aside from that you have only had the kitten for one day and I'm guessing that whatever you have fed it is different to what it has been used to so give it time to settle.

Feed the kitten dry food, put it out in a bowl, with fresh, clean water next to it, and always have it there for him.
Feed him SMALL (a tablespoon at most) amount of canned food 2 times daily.
Kittens are really excited about food, so they eat too fast.
This causes gas, and really smelly poody.
As the kitten matures, gets used to the routine, and understands he'll get fed no matter what, this'll stop.
Don't forget to neuter.

try changing the kitten food..to a food made only for kittens make it a dry food and have lots of fresh water every day next to the food bowl. only feed a kitten 1/4 cup of kitten food three times a day do not leave food out for it but do leave fresh water all the time for it.
In a week if it is not better take your kitten to a vet.
Give the new food a week

What are you feeding him? I hope you are not giving the kitten regular milk, they can't digest that. If he is too young for kitten food, you need to feed him something like KMR (kitten milk replacement). You might want to take your kitten to the vet for a check up, a good idea for a new pet, anyway.

It could be his diet, it could be something wrong with his stomach or intestinal tract. I'd wait it out, unless he is showing other symptoms it shouldn't be a problem and will go away eventually. If it doesn't take him to a vet. The vet may recomend different food or there might be a more serious problem.

It's up to you. It's probably caused by the food he's eating.
It would be a good idea to have a stool sample checked by the vet to rule other things out, but I would simply change the diet.
You may have to experiment to find a food that's more agreeable to him.

Not normal for cats to pass gas.
If it continues longer than a day or two I would see a vet. Most likely cause is the food you are feeding. Try a good qulaity dry food that has no fish meal (alot of cats are allergic to fish)

perhaps he is adjusting to the food you are feeding him. make sure he is eating a high quality(bit more expensive) kitten food.
