...when Christians can supposedly do whatever they want and all they have to do is ask god for forgiveness, and BAM!, everything the've ever done wrong, no matter how insane, hideous, or disgustingly sick, is wiped clean from their soul, and can get into heaven, even if their confessions are sincere and their intentions are good. Doesn't that sound a little too convienent? That means you can do whatever you want, and still get eternal salvation, right?

And people say atheists have no reason to act moral and ethical.

Fireball: why do you always deviate from the actual question and try to tell me how I should keep to my self and refrain from asking questions like this?

And yet, in some ways, they are more ethical and moral than most theists.

My experience has proved to me that one catches more flies with honey than vinegar. Self preservation. People respond better to a moral/ethical person and are more willing to do business and get along. If that is not a reason to be moral and ethical, I don't know what is. I have always been known to be a sharp one to do business with, but not a crook. Consequently I have done O.K.

Atheist.

I think it's because they just can't seem to understand that we can actually be good people without the fear of suffering for all eternity. I have actually had more then one person ask me that.... And they got made when I asked, "So the only reason you don't go on a killing spree, is because your afraid of your god's punishment?"

It's simple. Religious leaders have been lying about atheists since pretty much the dawn of time. Their followers believe the lies.

Because people are used to considering "faith" a virtue. If atheists don't "have faith" then obviously there's something WRONG with them. I'm sure that's at least part of their reasoning.

you have to ask with a repenting heart. but yeah its that simple. where one might fall at is the fact that with the repenting heart you will also try to stay away from what you did and not repeat it again.

Atheists have to live a more moral life because they KNOW there's no afterlife.

The bible does not teach that christians can do whatever they want and not suffer the consequences.

The bible says, "They that say I know Him and keepeth not His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in Him."

The bible says, "Show me your faith without your works and I'll show you my faith by my works."

The bible says, "Do not be deceived for God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, the same shall he also reap."

The bible says, "Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."

You cant do whatever you want. If you ever reject God, you cant come back. It says so in Hebrews 5&6.
