I see a lot of sarcasm from this question which is somewhat understandable, but then again most people out there are like passive sheep and have been lulled to sleep by various influences from life. The slave revolt begins with resentment though, and when things begin to affect these people personally they will then react, probably in a stupid and irrational way. People in general are like dogs with their tails between their legs are too afraid to band together and actually take action unless their toes are being stepped on. I suppose the only way that people will begin to see why people should stand up against various religious and political leaders is if they suffer, and then they like an animal will then react accordingly to external stimuli, since they have lost that ability it seems in this modern age of sedation. People can talk smart about things but when it comes down to raw existence they are a novice, and will probably be the first in line to point the finger at someone else and say why didn't they see this coming, or why didn't anyone try to change the situation at least a little with the help of the masses.

I don't think this question has to be directed exclusively towards Atheists, I'm not an Atheist and still believe that modern religion is probably one of the worst evils in our society.

I know that there is a lot of fraud and extortion, not to mention corruption, in religion. Its like government. If I knew first hand and had proof of any wrongdoing, as a responsible citizen, I would report it to the proper authority. Your question is basically accusing us Atheists for not doing anything at all. Since I personally don't know you, how can you know that I am permitting it?

How do I as an atheist permit the leaders to engage in ANYTHING let alone fraud and extortion? I have no power over religious leaders.

it incredibly is not in straightforward terms Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Mormon leaders that are cheating. You forgot the Hindi, Wicca, JW's and all the different companies around the international that tout themselves a a righteous, non secular communicate board who're the 'in straightforward terms way', which includes what ever non secular team u belong to if any. yet, any non secular chief who engages in fraud and extortion could be punished like all different regulation breaker. Any human who makes a great gamble against yet another to do actual injury could be punished. everyone that extorts tithes by capacity of fraud could be punished. this would in straightforward terms be performed as quickly as a criticism is made and a charge is sworn out by capacity of the government. Then evidence of the accusation could be made before ending up any form of punishment. yet, somebody could come forward first to place a charge against everyone committing an offense.

Not all people are God's people, because all have been given a choice, and some choose to be to the best of their ability. Some choose not to be, and not to believe, for many reasons, right and wrong, some really want to but don't know how, some know but choose to be so called religious leaders, as you stated, fact remains, all have a choice, which affects all of us, those who have the power will use the power like they want, but in the end all will answer for themselves.
It would have been different if God had said to all mankind - you WILL...We all have a choice ?

What makes you think I have the power to stop religious leaders from committing fraud?

Isn't this a question you should ask of your imaginary god? Religious frauds have been bilking the gullible and desperate out of their money for millennia. Why aren't they struck by lightning more often?

For the same reason we permit ANYONE to engage in fraud and extortion (among many other injustices): They've paid and indoctrinated armies of goons to protect themselves. We can't get close enough to do anything.
