Actually that isn't God. That is the Catholic church who invented hell.

Those aren't the choices we are given! Romans 6:23 says that the wages sin pays is DEATH.. but the gift God gives EVERLASTING LIFE through Jesus Christ. So. If we are obedient, we have the prospect of living forever here on a perfect earth, becoming more perfect every day.. Jehovah said the earth was made to be inhabited by earthling man.. and at Psalms we are told that the righteous will inherit the earth and reside forever upon it..
If we, on the other hand, refuse to be obedient, when we die, we simply stay dead forever. Ecclesiastes tells us that the dead are conscious of nothing at all.. so if we die disobedient, we stay dead forever with no hope of a relationship with God. Sounds simple and fair to me!

You have picked up what must surely be one of the biggest holes in fundamentalist Christianity!

ps_I noticed the indignant answers you are getting from Christians saying you are wrong are not following Fundamentalist Dogma so they would be either traditional Protestants or Catholics. The Fundies who do actually believe what you have said seem to be keeping clear of your question! This is the trouble with lumping ALL Christians in together - beliefs vary greatly... SO While your comment is true of SOME Christians beliefs- it is not true of all....

No, he is just being fair. If you want God to leave you alone for eternity, and stop interfering in your life by trying to keep you comfortable, healthy & happy, then he will.

God does not "torture" you per se, he simply takes back all of the good things that he created, like joy, happiness, pleasure, sight, sound, etc. and leaves you all alone drifting in the nothingness to fend for yourself, since that is what you obviously wanted.

that is a lie. He will not torture you forever. He may punish you for a little while for your sins. Jesus took the punishment for your sins if you will only believe it. If you don't accept this offer of salvation from judgement you will have to bear it for yourself. I don't believe the Bible teaches eternal torment - you are right - He would be a pretty nasty God if He did.

Oh, Andy! No, you are mistaken. And God loves you any way. He knows you have pure thoughts in your heart, and when you stray.. like now with this post... he would not think of torturing you. He knows you better than you know yourself. God Bless.

There is no God.

Live an honest life, be kind, and love those close to you. Don't get caught up in religion. Your heaven and hell are in the here and now. There is more killing and hate in the name of a so-called God that for any other reason/motive...by far. Organized religion is the only thing close to a devil you'll ever encounter.

I guess threats and coercion are the only options when the whole premise is so empty and baseless. In that kind of a situation, you can afford to let people actually think, and reason for themselves.

Hey! God had His own son tortured and murdered so you could come to Heaven and worship Him.
That's just how loving He is.
He tried to give us chance in The Flood, when He drown all those puppies and kittens. But no! We didn't learn. It's our fault He had to have His only son sacrificed.

Totally agree. Who would choose to worship a screwball like that?

Oooh, I know the answer, it's those gullible Christians isn't it? Am I right?
