His existence on earth is a historical fact.
His death, burial and ressurrection are cited in at least 6 historical sources outside the bible.
More than 500 eyewitnesses observed him alive after his death.
His apolstles preached the gospel with the authority of God, also doing miracles before the eyes of men...evidence that their message was from God.
The message has been absorbed throughout the world.
Jesus declared himself the way, the truth and the life...the only way to God the Father.
It don't cost a thing to accept the sacrafice of Jesus for your sins.
He took the place of you and me...we were scheduled for destruction.
You can have everlasting life, and have the barrier of sin lifted that separates you from God.

Tom...you really could have skipped the question...since that's true, I've not tried to force-feed anything, right?

Valerie...spreading the good news may convert someone, I think God is okay with it.

gjmb, the wages of sin has always been death. In old times, animal sacrafices were used, but just the same, the animal was substituted for the human. This was the format for one to come...its why Jesus was called the Lamb of God. It's the plan of salvation from day 1.

I think it is hard for people to accept Jesus because they are stubborn, afraid, don't know how to accept him, or thinks the commitment is to much. But it isn't really, it's about making good choices and loving the Lord. He's done so much for us already. If your wondering about Jesus or have questions or if you find your faith is not steady definitely go to a church. Ask questions. And there isn't pressure, they will be open and kind to you. Go into everything with a open mind and heart!

I don't really know what to accept. I think you should watch that movie. According to a lot of studies the bibles stories are different versions of other gods from Egypt and diff rent parts of the world.
In fact, there are a lot of gods that share an AMAZING amount similarities with Jesus' birth, almost identical. Also, there are no historical facts that proved Jesus' existence (which by the way , there were historians at the time). Who is to say that Jesus, didn't exist and one of those other gods is the real one? How can god expect us to believe something we don't know about.

Would god punish us for just not knowing?

Scholars for hundreds of years have debated his existence as written in the New Testament. No written record of him exists from his lifetime. Outside of Christian documents, the earliest written more than a generation AFTER his supposed "resurrection", the only non-Biblical source appears in 110 CE in a letter from Tacitus referring to Christians. There is no historic evidence of his existence as depicted in the New Testament.

The Josephus text was a forgery by Eusiebus in the third century and has even been acknowledged by Christian theologians for more than 60 years to be as such.

Not having anyone write down ( in an era when they wrote and saved enough mundane events that fill librarires ) about his miraculous events witnessed before hundreds until 70 to 100 years after they happen would be akin to NO one writing down anything about the assassination of John F. Kennedy until the year 2050.
Yes, it " costs" a sense of logic and reason to " accept" a human sacrifice as a "get out of mythologic hell" card,

I much prefer to be accountable for my own behavior. When I make a mistake, I own up to it, admit it, acknoweldge my accountability, seek forgiveness from the one I wronged, attempt to make restitution and amends however possible. This is the mature way to live.
I do my best and leave the rest to God.
Not to a sacrificed human man.

the Torah, the Holy Scriptures that were in existence in Jesus day, teach specifically that someone who performs miracles in the name of God yet attempts to lead one to follow any other deity ( the man god) proves they're not doing God's will. Guess the apostles skipped that part.

I think that you are really asking why many people do not accept Jesus Christ's teachings.
Some, because they have other beliefs to guide them to a virtuous life through a different god and prophet; a few others scoff because they have no religion or morals; some misguidedly hold to cruel and false gods and medieval practices; yet more, in our own country, are decent folk outwardly Atheist (partly due to sensible, rational doubts about Bible stories) but many of them are surely as virtuous in practical terms as many true Christians who have allowed God into their lives.
I submit that you cannot persuade reasonable people into Faith anymore than you can force them to cry at a piece of music or a sunset if it does not touch their heart.

for one thing history can be very biased. Have you not ever heard that who ever wins a war writes the history of it? A christian historian will automatically find a way to put Jesus into the history books. The only way we'll ever learn the truth is if a non biased historian does the research to find out the truth.

There is nothing about J.C. that makes him hard to accept. I think he was a hell of a guy, by all the accounts that I have read, and I even think he was a son of god.

I just don't buy into the whole christianity thing, and I don't believe that a religion that has constanty morphed since 300 years after his supposed resurrection, of which there are countless denominations all convinced that *they* are the ONE TRUE WAY TO CHRIST is in fact the best spiritual path for me. If it is for you, then I wish you bright blessings, and a lifetime of contentment.

1.) No, it's highly disputed.
2.) Name them. Are they contempary with the times he was alleged to have lived? Or are they religious sources?
3.) Only according to the Bible.
4.) They did... so the story says.
5.) Not by me or by 4 billion other people.
6.) That's what he said, or what someone said he said.
7, 8 and 9.) All rhetoric.

That's why I don't accept it.

I think he mentioned a couple of things:

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. John 3:18,19

(The world) hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. John 7:7
