Paint the walls a soft dove gray. Hang curtains in a deep barn red color. Replace the knobs on the cabinets with black knobs done in the black hammered finish.

If your couch has those pieces of fabric to protect the arms of your sofa, take one of them with you to the paint store. If not take a cushion, and look at different paint colors. Be sure to take your fabric and the paint samples back home to see what the color looks like in your room light. I would suggest maybe a paler shade of your sofa on the walls and for a richer element do the drapes or curtains floor to ceiling in a silver gray organza. Another idea would be to paint the walls a very pale shade of purple and then put a stripe, the same color as the couch around the top part of the wall. With out a layout of the room it would be hard to tell where you would want to put the stripe. If you want to go more modern you could even paint diagonal stripes on the wall opposite the sofa. To finish the room out if you use a silvery gray drape you could accent the room with glass and chrome. The ideas with paint are endless, just remember cooler colors will make you sofa pop.

How dark are you willing to go? If you're not afraid of deep color, I would suggest something like "Cordovan" by Sherwin Williams. It's a burgundy/brown hue. If you'd prefer a more neutral tone, the try "totally Tan."

With either color, a light gray or white curtain would look good.

You could go Lt Grey or an off red and use curtains with a pattern that picks up the two colors. There are really a lot more options than you think with dark grey. We did my son's room in grey, black and red once and it looked great!

I use to have a room that had dark grey carpet and I used a lighter gray on the walls. It looked good. How about blinds for the windows?

Try a barn red [ not too dark ] and get curtains in a print [ maybe with roosters - then you could collect them ].
