It's been building up for years. Me too, a baby boomer. I've watched the beginnings of the end, starting back about 1965. You saw it too but didn't recognize it for what it was.
Remember? "make love not war', 'down with society','burn your bra', 'do your own thing, man', 'you get high?'
There it was, big as life, the coming rebellion against all authority and I do mean all.
Then, to recruit warriors for their side, they had babies. Little babies with yesterday's dirt on their little faces and chains hanging around their little necks. Now there's a generation to admire. They were brought up in groups of hatred against almost everything except the welfare line.
At the same time, Dewey's plans to bring the U.S. to its knees, using the children, was well on its way. All ready, they were being taught they were nothing more than regenerated one cell animals. Even Jesus was being taught in World History, Jesus the famous prophet.
Then, behold, that generation begat yet another generation with no morals, no foundation, no respect and no legitimate diplomas. This generation was the best of all. They were being taught that all the world is 'fair'. That each one of them would get their turn, regardless of how much they put into it.
"Fair" brought on the new world of 'life style', which teaches our youngsters that there are no boundaries at all. On top of that, this new world became fat, lazy and wealthy and turned over all commerce to outside countries, so that we don't have to work or depend on our own.
After 2 generations, coming out of the 'anti-establishment' gang, we now have 'me first'. Now the me-first attitude has given birth to highway shootings, rage and racing on the city streets just to get to the next entertainment. This generation worries about people only when they get in their hurried, 'me-first' way.
So what do we have now? Selfishness abounds and selfishness will never recognize, nor bow down to, authority unless it has a gun and hand-cuffs. Human power and might is the winner. That doesn't leave room for a God. They are god.
So where does all this lead us? Straight into the last days. Can't you recognize it?
The signs of these things to come: it will be as in the days of Noah. What was it like in the days of Noah? Those people wouldn't listen because they were too busy with the same attitudes of today. Me first. Dance for me, sing for me, give me things, bend over.
There it is and it's not getting better. It will continue to worsen until there is no protection on this world, for the Christian, outside of Jesus. Your rights are vanishing. Your citizenship is waning. Your place on this world is getting smaller and smaller.
Not only can we do very little about it, I don't want to. These things must come before the Lord comes for us.
Mind you, I have been talking about non-Christians.People with no knowledge of what He truly is.

So you complaining about Americans complaining makes you the exact same. Someone who travels a lot like you should be smart enough to realize people are people and are all going to act the same. Someone from a third world country complains about not having clean drinking water. Where a rich American complains about no AC. Who's to say an American can't complain just because our problems aren't that significant. A problem is a problem no matter where you live. I understand that AC is not as important as clean drinking water. I don't think you understand what I was trying to explain. If we lived in a perfect world, people would still find something to complain about. Some people all over the WORLD are naturally positive and optimistic, whereas others tend to see the world in a more negative light and always think the glass is half-empty.

Actually, society did not decide that God does not belong in society. A very vocal minority has decided to bring a few court cases because they feel that they have a right to not be offended.
The first ammendment to the Constitution of the United States reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." It means that there can be no "Church of the United States of America." It does not say "little Johny can't say a prayer in school," or "Bobby can't thank God in his valadictorial speech," and it does not say "Everyone has a right to not be offended by the religious practices of others."
Now I don't expect this to "get through" anyone's head any time soon, but this stance is repeatedly affirmed in court. If folks want to continue wasting their money, more power to 'em.
Freedom of religion is *everyone's* right.

I think the complaining started when religion was introduced more and more into the political spectrum of discussion. As religion moved more and more to place God into our government, the complaining began and it hasn't stopped since.
As for Christmas...we have way more people that don't celebrate Christmas the same way, or at all...so that was a barrier. As for prayer in school...what prayer would you prefer be said? Would you sit for a prayer to Allah? Would you allow a Buddhist prayer? Would you require it to be Christian? This is a roadblock best removed by simply stopping the practice.
God may be getting a bad rap...but the truth is, the harder people push for God in government, the more complaining there will be.

I am a teenaged Chinese-American, you are mistaking com planing about God, with arguing against his existence.
You lived at a time in which the majority of this country was Christian. However, in our generation, there is a large mix of cultures and ideas. This is something to be welcomed.
Since I live in liberal Washington state, I have little experience with school prayers and Christmas plays.
God was needed as a big brother for people that want someone to reward them. We're learning to stand on our own two feet. What's wrong with that?

The Republican party politicized religion first and foremost. Secondly, who decided that God actually exists and that I need to acknowledge it in my civic duties? Being a citizen of the greatest country on earth has nothing to do with your dogmatic beliefs. In fact, being so dutifully religious and intolerant of your neighbors right to not believe as you do is anti-American and goes against everything this country stands for. Do not be fooled by the fanatics.. America is not a Christian country, and was not founded by them. (
Used to be it wasn't a problem because religion was understood to be a private matter. The GOP decided that they could get fundamentalists... err... fanatics to mobilize by selling them on the idea of unity, and social issues... Truly a farce, considering they act contrary to everything they preach... ie: limited government.. but are the most intrusive

Get over it. As the United States becomes more diverse, it is simply RUDE to insist that the Christian god is the only valid god.
Further, winter programs are still popular in schools, and Christmas carols are fine, as long as other faiths are represented.
In Indiana, ALL school children say the Pledge every morning before school starts, AND they observe 30 seconds of silence. Further, IT IS THE LAW here.
Get over it, the culture wars are myth designed to frighten the gullible.

Yes - life was so much better when no one said a bad thing about God, and you could string a ****er or mexican
up from a tree without consequence....
Youre twisted, you know that? How you minimize racism and hate against real humans over the importance of mocking an imaginary deity is beyond my grasp.

The public did. Your right to say "especially in the USA" the USA is WAY behind on this issue. The rest of the civilized world is totally secular and limits religion as much as possible. In Canada we would never even CONSIDER prayer in school.

The complaining started as a reaction to a movement of Christians attempting to bring religion into politics. This counter-movement was a direct response to the Moral Majority and the Christian Coalition, and other similar groups.
