How long would it take to get from Dallas to Los Angeles in 1906, and what would be the method of transport?

I think that it would have been by train, I do not know the distance, but I would guess that it took several days at least.
(I read a story in which a person traveled from Chicago to San Francisco and it took almost a week.)
Dallas to LA now takes more than 40 hours, so it might well have been a week then.
