First try what the Bible says about prayer:

Ecclesiastes 5:2
Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.

My primary concern is that if you are seeking God, you do it correctly. Many religions have prayer books but, if they are not from Christianity then your purpose isn't pure so there is not point. Secondly, prayer is personal. It's not wrong to pray a specific prayer but, it's been designed to be more conversational and personal. Check out this book if you can. It will tell you everything you need to know about prayer. Hope this helps.

You see, the prayers in the bible are examples. Prayer is supposed to be open communication with God. You say what's in your heart. God doesn't want wonderful sounding prayers that come from someone else. That's bs. That's not much of a relationship. What if a person just read you other peoples words saying, "I love you," or sweet poems, but never just told you that they love you from the heart? What if it was always what someone else said? Same thing with God. And it's also a little like saying, "You're not very real to me." I don't think you'll go to hell for it or nothin. If you just need a guidline, then here, if you must---

Here's a book---

Not really a prayer book, but The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren is the best book I've ever read about Christian life outside the Bible itself. It can change your whole perspective about your life and how you live it.

THE BIBLE IS NOT A PRAYER BOOK. its an instruction manuel from God on how to live so as to have his approval, but yes Prayer is involved, but for God to answer your prayers you must pray for something that is within his will. Not a selfish thing. what you really need is a personal home study , go to this site & request a visit, you can have a personal bilble study at you home if you wish www.watchtower.org don't believe lies that people tell you about Jehovah's Witnesses, find out for yourself.

Wow. Have I ever got the book for you!
Its called "God Calling", by Russell.
Get it, because you will be soooooo happy
you did. Two old women who shared an apartment together in Europe during WWII,
both were Christians, and both were desolate and poor. One of them wanted
to commit suicide. Anyway, its NOT the story of their lives, its just that they wrote the book - you see, they started getting messages from Christ and wrote them down word for word, each day for an entire year; so the pages read:
January 1:
and then the writing
January 2:
and then the writing.

Whatever Christ told them, they wrote; thats what you read on each page, and I gotta tell you that the stuff is BEAUTIFUL, but much more than even that, it really makes you think - you won't be able to put it down, and you will read it over and over again. I've read it 62 times. Everything single thing said that refers to Scripture, I've gone to great lengths to check out in Scripture to be sure nothing whatsoever in it goes against
Scripture - it certainly does not go against scripture - I just wanted to be sure, ya know?

I can't say whether these women really experienced what they said they did, but you just have to read this for yourself to see the power in it - I've seen people read it and then start for the first time in their lives to read the Bible with great interest; the
writings are short, but very powerful. Its
got alot of advice in it, and it will make you
take a whole new look at yourself and at
other people. Here's an example:
February 26
"Swift Help" (remember its Christ speaking)

"There is nothing lacking in your lives because really all is yours, only you lack the faith to know it. You are like a King's daughter who sits in rags, and yet all around you are stores of all you could desire.
Pray for more faith, as a thirsty man in a desert prays for rain, for water. Swift comes my help, swift and strong. Do you know what it is to feel sure that I can never fail you? As sure as you are that you still breathe? How poor is man's faith! So poor.
Do you trust me as much as you would a friend if that friend came and said that he would send you help? Pray daily and most diligently that your faith may increase."

God Calling
By A.J. Russell (put to print by the guy, but written by "the two listeners" who remain
anonomous to this day, and never received one penny for the book.

There was a second one written, and I think its "More God Calling".

I guarantee you'll love them both! God Bless.

These sites are choc full of prayers!
http://www.bahaiprayers.org
http://www.worldprayers.org

Ignore the naysayers, they sorely misunderstand formal prayer. They actually think it's wrong to say a formal prayer, can you believe? How on Earth can a mere mortal with a finite mind possibly know what God thinks of the private prayers of another person? That's bogus, you know it and I know it. Only Almighty God can judge your heart and your prayers, and no one else. NO ONE else. To do so is to be arrogant to the ??? degree!

Blessings to you, I hope these sites can help.
