Just make sure you give him a beer before you do.

You will be glad you neutered him in the future.. Not only will this help to keep him from wandering in search of a female and getting into fights with other cats, it will also either eliminate or reduce the act of him spraying walls and furniture to mark his territory.. I used to think it was cruel to neuter my cats, but the last two I 've had have been neutered, and I am very glad they are. They are both very docile, and great pets.. I made my decision when I saw a neighborhood cat with aids.. (believe me, you wouldn't want your pet to suffer like that one did)..

Curious as to why this is in beer, wine and spirits. But the first answerer is right. First of all, shelters are full of homeless kittens. But male cats will spray and become intolerable if there's a nearby female in heat. They'll get in less fights, and if you really want your cat to live longer, you'd keep it indoors.

The actual castrating itself won't make his life longer, as there are actually very few health benefits from it. What will make his life longer is that he will be less inclined to roam. Less inclined to fight. Less inclined to spray in your house. Cats don't get "feline aids" (feline Immunodeficiancy Virus) from having sex with other cats, they get it from being in contact with other cats. Have your cat vaccinated. And, if you really love him and want to extend his life, try to keep him inside as much as you can.

Neuter your cat and don't let him roam outdoors.
