...when Christians can supposedly do whatever they want and all they have to do is ask god for forgiveness, and BAM!, everything the've ever done wrong, no matter how insane, hideous, or disgustingly sick, is wiped clean from their soul, and can get into heaven. Doesn't that sound a little too convienent? That means you can do whatever you want, right?

Nickster: I can see where you are coming from, but this ins't a question about your inentions. You can still lie, cheat, steal, and murder, and sincerely apologize later on down the road. Does that make it right? I think not.

Dear seahock,

First i don't know if i agree with the statement that atheists have no reason to act moral and ethical. But i will say that there is no standard of morality- everyone makes their own standard- and the difference being that Christians choose to follow God's standards by placing their faith in Christ whereas atheists who don't believe in God- follow their own standards.

There are multiple places in the Bible actually which teaches that you can't just do whatever you want- say God fogive me and think that it's ok. First God looks at the heart- and God will not be fooled- he knows what genuine repentance and insincere repentance is.

The question is what is your heart towards that sin? i remember when i first became a Christian i struggled with cussing because for over 18 years of my life every word that came out of my mouth was "F this, etc." One of the first nights after accepting Christ i knocked over a lamp and said "oh S***" but God was working on my heart- because i had studied the Bible and realized that cussing was not something God wanted from me- because what came out of my mouth was a reflection of my heart. And so the question you referenced the Bible teaches that there is no sin that God can not forgive- he forgave the lady caught in adultery, etc. But when you receive Jesus- your heart towards that sin changes- so if you think that it's just say: "Jesus i'm sorry," it's also that you gotta mean it- and God is not fooled.

If your mindset as a Christian is that you can do whatever you want and just say Jesus i'm sorry- first its probably a sign that you don't really believe in Jesus. Because believing in Jesus is also choosing to live life like Him- Christian (one who follows Christ). None of us can follow Christ perfectly- and so it's also a reminder that we may mess up along the way- but we don't look to mess up intentionally and take our sins lightly.

i hope that helps. Feel free to email me if you want to discuss further or if i can clarify anything.

By the way my brother is an Atheist and i find him to be a wonderful human being with a good set of morals (mama raised us right) but it's just that he's relying on his own morals to have a good afterlife-- and our own righteousness will never be sufficient enough.

Kindly,

Nickster

Morality is extra primal than examining a code. Our ethical instincts are born of having alongside in our family members settings and are in place by using the time we are 5 years outdated. human beings do no longer slide removed from that purely because of the fact they stop believing in god, in spite of the fact that concept in god is likewise noticeably firmly usual by using an early age. extra extreme threats to ethical habit come from alcohol and drug addictions. as quickly as a substance is a individual's first fee, all else, consisting of god and human beings, start to take inferior spots of precedence.

As an atheist, I try to lead a moral life because I find it the logical and sensible thing to do. I have a conscience, but not in a religious sense of that word. I hate hurting people and myself. I don't an invisible deceit telling me to be moral; I can figure that out on my own.

as a satanist, I am fully aware of something called consequence and personal responsibility. This life may be all I have, and as such I plan to treat it like a priceless treasure to enjoy. That includes doing right to those that deserve it.
