Shia have some rituals that are very similar to self flagallation.
This happens in Iran and some parts of Iraq.
Its a mixture of shiaism, judaism and zoroastrianism.

you should ask shiaa or the followers of the persian version of islam , they are a minority among muslims
it should be about the original video , not the edited one
i'm a muslim and i cannot make sense of it either because i'm not one of it's followers, they are shiaa or shiites who are practicing persian version of islam, it is also practiced by iraqi and iranian immigrants in the gulf countries who are for some reason aided by the west to overthrow current governments who happen to be allies with american and european nations.
these customs you saw on video are also practiced by hezbollah followers in southern lebanon and shiites in iraq.
the majority of muslims consider even sharing the same beliefs as a sin not just attending their ceremonies . they have a special place equivalent to the holy mosques in makkah and madina in an iranian city called qom .
they also believe that there is one imam hidden since many centuries back and he will come back, but it's mainly to give religious validity for iran and shia to rule the islamic world as they always say.
i cannot speak for them but will gladly answer any question by those who ask respectfully about the islam i follow as a sunni muslim.

I think there used to be a cartoon character called Pepe la Pou who was a skunk, this particular character acts like he may be Loopy de Loop...he's either over-acting and over-emoting or needs psychiatric help... if you ask me he's losing the plot.
