I see a lot of Christians do this, they sin on a weekly basis on purpose and they say who cares if I sin I can just ask God for forgiveness. Doesn't that reasoning give them the liberty to do whatever they want without consequence?

It's not our place to decide whether they should or should not be forgiven. However, the Bible is pretty clear on what will happen if people who call themselves Christians intentionally sin.

26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
~Hebrews 10:26-27 (New International Version)~

If they are deliberately sinning then I have to wonder about how repentant they truly are. However as to Christians remaining in sin because of grace Paul gave the answer around 2000 years ago.

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

The Bible says in Romans 6 that God forbid that and in Hebrews 10:26 "26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." I hope that answers your question concerning this subject....

that's the sin of presumption and if it excuses an unrepented grave sin the sinner may well be very seriously deluded.
There are always consequences for actions and as free creatures we always have responsiblity for our actions especially since God is just and good.

Actually, what you are describing is sometimes called "grace abuse", and the book of Hebrews suggest that people who habitually do this go to hell.

God is not stupid. Forgiveness requires remorse.

this is how god's forgivness is being missunderstood - errore umanum est, perseverare diabolicum (mistake is human, repeating is diabolic)
