don't use table salt - use a light sprinkle of Lawrey's Season All and freshly ground mixed pepper with just a touch of garlic powder

I wouldn't salt it until it's cooked, or else you run the risk of toughening the meat. When it's as done as you like, sprinkle it with about an eighth of a teaspoon of salt. (Half of the 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon, in other words.) You want to be able to taste the steak, not the salt. Taste and add more salt if needed.

Or use something like Montreal Steak Seasoning which contains salt and spices. Sprinkle it lightly on the steak after cooking.

none. zip. squat. zilch.
salt is an astringent, thus if you salt a piece of meat, then heat it over anything more than a low medium heat, you will be forcing the natural juices out of the meat. Assuming this is not your intentions, to cause the meat to dry out, become tough and tasteless, salt the meat only after you turn the steak over, and even then, lightly. I will also assume that you have salt shakers on your table? Your guests can salt their own meat.

I would say rather less that too much... given the negative effects on your health. Just read through the article below at :
