Very true kind of statement and any genuine believer in Christ would admit that the taking and bearing of the Cross is something that the flesh, the old man, the Self and the natural man doesn't want to bear. Naturally we'd much rather just try to preserve and keep our soul life than loose it. But Praise the Lord! we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The Cross takes the " I " in our being and bends it into a " C" for Christ. In God's Soverignity and how He arranges our different environments to work in us, we trust His heart for us and know that these cross bearing situations are the real times that we gain a deeper work of the Lord in our being We need to see that this christian life is also a crucified life. We bear the marks and brands of Jesus. We cannot say that we are for the Lord and have no marks inwardly to prove this. Do we love the self and live according to the soul life? Or are we those that take the way of the cross to deal with things like our temper, or besetting sin, our pride and inner thought life. The amazing thing that I learned about the cross is that on the other side of the cross is resurrection. If there is no death then there is no life. We need to die to the self to live by the spirit each day. " Die to live each day" We are those following someone. We follow the Lamb wherever He may go. The Lamb of God went straight to the Cross. May the Cross not be just a symbol to us or something religious. The cross has to CROSS out anything in us that is NOT of Christ and according to the Spirit indwelling us. For this we need to avail ourselves to the all sufficient Grace of the Lord and take each step in Him as we follow Him.
