Ok! Here's the story. My friend was out of town and handed his key to another guy to take care his cat. One day when he went to feed his cat, he accidently found a receiver for hidden camera. The receiver was connected to the video player. He went through his tape and found two tapes were recorded with me and my friends using the restroom. Is it ok to install a hidden camera in his restroom since it's his own property? And is it against the law to go through his tapes? Awww... I need help!!

No this is not any longer ok. He can no longer checklist everybody devoid of their permission in a position the place there is an expectation of privateness. the reality that he has those tapes is against the regulation and he could properly be charged with a criminal. i could propose which you immediately pass to the police along with your chum and make a police report. optimistically too plenty time hasn't surpassed and the suggestions continues to be sparkling adequate to acquire a seek warrant. i does no longer tell the suspect which you're attentive to what he did or he could pass or injury the data. reaction to MCC: you elect yet another regulation type. it fairly is surely criminal habit and your chum grow to be legally interior the homestead whilst he discovered the digital camera and video tapes. He can justify why he considered the video clips. I even have prosecuted persons in comparable circumstances.

He should have have warned you about the camera since you are the one who is doing him a favor. He may well have camera there due some past problem with burglars etc. Since he is your friend and he has trusted you with his house flat what ever he is residing in. Be a good friend and inform him. Don`t go running to police incase he has good reasons.

You have an implied expectation of privacy when using the restroom (baring some sort of signed release). Contact the police, a crime may very well have been committed.

Sounds like a B.S. phony story to me.

But if it's in the USA then it's only illegal in SOME states (the USA has some very backward laws). Personally, if it did really happen I wouldn't need the Courts to settle the matter anyway.
