Oh my! Complain about that old dude....give him a warning first....say, "It's considered harrassment for you to call me that so Im going to ask you not to do it again....if you keep at it then I will complain to the manager"
Then see what he does. Dont take that! Then start looking for a job with younger people too.

Working in a nursing home is a very wonderful thing for you to do. I know how old people can be. They still don't know most of us have stopped calling people names and that today's young people will not like being called MOMBO (a name used a long time ago for black people). I know it is very hard for you to understand this because you are so young. I remember when blacks people couldn't eat at the counter at Woolworth's, and they could not share a restroom. Times have really changed. If you can't stick with this job because of the way it makes you feel, then I don't blame you for quitting. Please try to understand that these old people don't know any better. Some may suffer diseases that make them worse than they normally would be. Try to talk to this man that calls you names. Maybe he would change if you told him it hurts your feelings to be called this name. It may make no difference to him if he is suffering from a disease that makes him forget quickly. Good luck to you.

I'd suggest you start looking around for a new job. When you find one that you think you'll like wait until after you go in for the interview and after you are actually hired to tell your current boss that you're quitting. That way if you have trouble finding another job at least you won't be stuck without one. I spent too long at a job that I was miserable at, and I know now that I should've gotten out of there long before I did. Also, don't be afraid to take your time and find a job that you really think will be good for you, that way you won't be stuck with another bad one. A big part of finding a good job is being in the right place at the right time. Good luck!

Mombo is a sign of respect. Most likely your co-workers are threatened by your youth and virility. I'm thinking you should buy every one some snacks...maybe cookies. Oh...and if you talk as you write...stay away from run on sentences...it scares people...

I agree with the_only, if you really are 20 then you should be able to make ur own descision without moping about it. Anyway, if you ever do quit, find a better paying job that you would actually enjoy doing like fashion designer, artist, musician or anything you want.

Are you sure he's not calling you Sambo? Thats what a lot of older ignorant people used to call African Americans. Now they are even older and dumber and probably cant remember the name. Yep. Get out and move on.

If your unhappy with your job, you should definite change it.there are a lot of places you can work. I used to work in a nursing home, yes, it can be stressful. dont let it ruin your life. you could check out hospitals. if you have a degree. they always need people. if you dont have a degree you could get one at a community college since you got experience,

Why so late? I don't know if your in college, if not you should, it's gonna guarantee a better future. And yes, you should find another job that you will be able to handle. However, in jobs, there always tends to be drama...
