The people of the world did not think the world was flat, the catholic church told them it was and they had to believe it or be boiled in oil. The Greeks, 3000 years ago knew it was round. Cultures by the hundreds knew it was round for millenia. The church forced people to accpet that it was flat until Chris.

umm it says circle it does not say sphere or any sphere like reference. The world was still thought of as flat regardless of the shape.
