Until recently, Yusufiyah was among the most dangerous places in Iraq.

Located in the so-called "triangle of death," a violent area south of Baghdad, it was the site of frequent clashes between coalition forces and Sunni fighters. In May, two U.S. soldiers went missing in Yusufiyah and were never found, despite a massive search.

But today, Sunni tribal leaders in this town cooperate with U.S. forces in their battle against foreign fighters and al Qaeda in Iraq.

"It's all the roll of the dice. It's people and politics all intertwined down here," said Col. Michael Kershaw, commander of the Second Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.

Kershaw now greets his former enemies with kisses, hears their grievances, spends time in their homes and even shares meals with them. He is surprised at how far relations have progressed.

Facts mean nothing to a Democrat that will sell their country out for the opportunity to attack Bush.

Isn't it neat how liberals constantly beat the drums on single issues with no factual background... like... Bush lied... even though it was the same intelligence all their moronic leaders had as well, or... we are there for oil... even their leaders stopped with that garbage after nothing happened to gas prices... and we point out the Big Picture... the 17 UN violations, the fact that the UN sanctioned the war therefore the world parties veted yes as well or that we get an insignificant amount of oil from Iraq....

BUT... when you bring up a small facet of factual evidence that things are going better... WELL... that is just not good enough.... good news is bad news for these anti-American hypocrites... this is why they had no problem smearing a 4 Star General and calling him a liar. Classy!

It's cute how the news can tell storys like this, remember Falutia??? It was a bad place, then the americans came and cleaned it up, then the 'terrorist' retook the city and then the military fought back and retook hell on earth.

And it was hell, 6 hours of fighting and we got 10 feet into the damn city, 40% casulity rate, only the civil war had bloodier battels for americans.

But then Falutia was nice again, and since then gone up and down in violence.

It's the same right now they are friends then they will become hostial again, and you'll be nowhere around to answer my question. Hell even in your own info, "it's all the roll of the dice" that means sometimes you get 7 and some times you get snake eyes. And do you really call that winning?

That's good and all, but let's not forget that it was American help and endorsement that made the Taliban a powerful force in Afghanistan. This partnership could similarly come back to haunt us. I would like to be optimistic, but I;ve been following this story and it seems these Sunnis are allies of convenience. Formerly aligned with Al Qaeda, they became tired of Al Qaeda's tactics (namely suicide bombing the population into submission) and switched sides. This is an opportunity to reach out to Sunnis, and pull a Middle Eastern faction away from Al Qaeda, but I don't think we should let our guard down and put full confidence in this group of people yet.

Those Sunni fighters are the insurrectionists. The only reason they are not killing us at the moment is because AQ was interfering with their tribal powers and privileges. Once the troop surge is over and we are no longer the enemy of their enemy we will again become the enemy as long as we are trying to push a Shi'a led government on them

Democrats say that Republicans are crammed with hate by ability of reality this could properly be a low-fee thank you to evade retaining Obama's regulations and evade debating. it is so person-friendly as that. Edit: solid guy's reaction in this question is an ideal social accumulating of what I in basic terms defined; plus he fails to realize that each and every individual of what you (the unique asker of this question) stand for is truthfully for each and all the betterment of the persons and not for in basic terms the guy. for example, overtaxing the wealthy ought to in basic terms supply people the concept that they could get stuff and reward for loose and not paintings complicated on their very own; on an identical time as as letting people keep their complicated earned funds ought to offer people an incentive to paintings complicated and subsequently greater desirable proper each and every and all the economic device and all of life. it fairly is extremely like the previous putting forward, 'supply a guy a fish and he eats for an afternoon, prepare a guy to fish and he eats for a whole life". it fairly is the comparable suited concept. to no longer element out individual freedoms are solid for all. Why ought to government encroachment be solid regardless of each and everything different than for national protection applications?

What the Dems mean by losing is that they are losing money that could otherwise be focused on their personal interests and vendettas
