Christians, do you believe that the only motivation for "getting the lost saved" is fear of Hell and desire for Heaven. Or... are there other motivations, and what are they? The purpose for the question, by the way, is for Christians (I include myself) to think outside what you may have heard or been taught by many mainstream Christian ministers and the assumptions of those who choose not to be Christians.

No new soul winning ideas as you suggest. I just think Heaven and Hell as a motivator puts a humanistic twist on Christianity to where the ultimate motivation is one's own happiness and I'm not sure that's what Christ intended. Don't get me wrong, I belive in blessing, but I think we westernize Christianity so much that the chief motivator to become one is what do I get out of the deal.

The Bible says that it is the LOVE of God that brings a man to repentance.
Heaven and hell are consequences, but not the motivation.
When we see how much God loved us - enough to die for our very sins - we can't help but fall in love with Him.
Andrae Crouch wrote and sang the following words to the song, "If Heaven Never Was Promised To Me"
“If heaven never was promised to me, neither God’s promise to live eternally, it’s been worth having the Lord in my life...living in a world of darkness, He brought me the light...”

The proper motive should be from love.
In certain circles I have been in, there was ALWAYS some sort of program or class designed to get people to witness, to evangelize. It was taught as our DUTY. An activity that was first and foremost important. It was elevated to a higher degree of importance than other things. Which to me, was not right to do.
Their motive was to get more members. Why? Who can say? Bragging rights, more money, who can say.
It is horrible to do the right thing for the wrong reason. And so many people in the congregations felt like failures when their witnessing produced little or nothing.
In their ignorance of the fact that it is God that builds His church, they still continue on, to the NEXT gimmick that won't work either.

I try not to even bring up Hell. Hell takes an amount of faith to believe in. What doesn't take ANY amount of faith the believe in is DEATH!
So death can be a motivation. But unless I am ask, I hardly bring up death, I'd rather talk about what was promised: LIFE!
As in Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you will be given eternal life. So the emphasis is not on the things that are negative, but on the positive repercussions of believing in Jesus Christ. Once that is established, then a person with any aptitude for critical thinking will possibly think, "Well, if I am going to get eternal life from believing in Jesus, that means that I will either escape death, or death means nothing really."
And so the ideas keep coming, and the growth of the person spirituality becomes more apparent. All they have to know is that Jesus is the source for what God requires to become one of these 'eternally living' people.

My advice to you is don't use a motavation like that. It will hurt a lot of people (trust me I know). Wouldn't it scare you (pretend that ur not a christian) if some christian comes up to you and says that if you don't accept jesus then you are going to hell? That would freak me out and then i would just probally go home thinking i'm going to hell. That motavation doesn't the love god gave to us. All it shows is the fear in to ging to hell.
My way (which my pastor youth group told us) is to go to someone ask them if they need prayer and see if they need anything. Then when you feel as though it is right to bring up the subject( jesus) then you do it. This is what i usaully say when this comes up, "hey you know there is someone that i know that can handle any situation. He came down on earth and risked his only life for us. This person which you have probally have heard of or at least the name is Jesus. Jesus loves you and he doesn't like to see you this way. He wants to be with you. He saved your life from going to hell and now the gates of heaven are open. He has an ever lasting life and love that he wants to give to you. But the problem is of the times he has been trying to reach to you, you just completly ignored him. Jesus wants to be your everlasting life, love, friend and savior. When you feel that you know you want this love, life, friend and savior all you have to do is give your life back to him and he shall be those things to you." And then the person would eiather accept it or ignore it. Most of the time i usually get people who end up walking still thinking about what i said. this way is less offensive and gives back a loving heart to them. It makes them feel more loved than hated. When i do this i feel so good inside and that i did what God wanted me to do ( the right thing). Hope this advice is helps you out! God bless you!

hi, im one of Jehovah Witnesses. First of, god only accepts whole souled service to him. Also, ''the fear of hell''? You mean the fear of death? No where in the bible does it say that humans burn in hell. Romans 6:23 says ''For the wages sin pays is death'''. The motivation to teach others about god should stem from the heart. Its good that people like you want real answers instead of just believing everything that priests says.
Another good scripture is 1 john 4:1''''''''Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.''''''
If your preacher says something, make sure he backs it up with what the bible says.
email me anytime if you wanna talk.

For the most part but there are other reasons. For instance I pray that my brother in law is saved so God could pour out blessing on his life, his children etc, really could use some blessings in his health and family but I feel that he is out out of position with God. Plus my wife would be stronger if he was saved.tom line is pretty much where they will spend eternity though at least when I witness. Why have any good soul winning ideas?

Well, I DO desire to help save "the lost." However, my motivation does NOT solely come from my desire to help others escape Hell. There are so many benefits to becoming saved. Your heart is filled with joy, you gain so much more compassion for others, you realize what your purpose in life is...I could go on and on. But most importantly, you gain a relationship with God. As one journeys through that relationship, their perspective on life changes and they are more at peace when they put their trust in Him.

Jesus entrusted the soul winning to his disciples when he was taken up into heaven. He said to them to go forth and to spread the word, preach to the world and try to help the lost to come to the father for forgiveness. He also instructed us to go out and spread the word and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. This isn't a motivation for fear of hell and desire for heaven. It is motivated by the very words of which Jesus spoke to his disciples just before his accention into heaven. Matthew 28:19 states the following..."Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit." It was Jesus who motivated the disciples to preach the gospel and the saved souls were in turn inspired to teach the gospel to the nations of the world.

A messianic Jew is a Jew that believes that Jesus is the Messiah. Christians and Messianic Jews consider that Jesus is the Messiah. They are Jews. The factor of view of the anti Messianice Jews is quality summed up through Mark JPAS whilst he mentioned "it's appropriate to combination a few measure of international religious factors with Judaism. The one exception is Christianity, that is gave the impression to be incompatible with any kind of Jewishness. This is the double commonplace that's implemented to Christianity although Jesus is viewed the Jewish Messiah in Christianity. Messianic Jews are checked out with even bigger disdain. Why? its a canopy for there possess deviations from Judaism. Some Jews ought to keep a connection to Jewish household considering that they've deviated such a lot from conventional Judaism that many Orthodox query their Jewishness. They want discover a few solution to distract awareness considering that of there deviation from the Torah. This is completed through pointing their finger at others to direct awareness clear of their possess movements. You can not provide your self a name and assume that it makes you anything. This is the argument that has been used towards Jews that come to a decision that Jesus is the Messiah. We are informed that the mere notion of an additional nature of God instantly invalidated a Jews Jewishness. At the equal time Jews that emerge as atheists, pantheists or quit training any detail in their faith we're informed are nonetheless Jews. They say that you'll be able to consider in some thing however Jesus. Jews name conversion "becoming a member of the tribe". Things that might under no circumstances fly in Orthodox or for that topic Messianic Judaism can also be observed within the Reform and Reconstructionist hobbies. A well illustration of it is a prior query requested right here. The man or woman asking worshiped the God Ferris however didn't consider in him or the Jewish God. The attention of the query used to be" ...might you PERSONALLY suppose cozy welcoming me no longer simply as a fellow congregant at your Synagogue, however as a member of the Tribe?" (so he used to be certainly asking approximately changing to Judaism). The reaction used to be "Reform Judaism covers a large swath of ideals and practices and I am definite you are going to be absolutely accredited. ... I individually might receive you entire heartily as a fellow Jew." So a few Jews will receive a wide variety of deviations from the Torah however no longer notion in "Jesus". Let's no longer omit the Reform motion desired to difference the sabbath to Sunday to be extra like Christianity. Most Messianic Jews are Torah observant but you'll be able to emerge as an atheist, quit training their religion, emerge as a Buddhist, become a member of a Unitarian Church and nonetheless be a Jew within the eyes of Reform/Reconstructionist Jews. Most Orthodox whilst requested approximately different Jews will say they do not know what non Orthodox Jews are. The equal applies to the opposite sects. Speaking of sects Jews will let you know there aren't any sects however its no longer actual. Rabbinical Jews comply with an know-how in their religion that used to be situated a million,900 years in the past. They have their possess canon of Scripture. There also are non Rabbinical Jews such because the Ethiopian Jews that follows the sample of the Christian Old Testament and they've many further books that they recollect to be scripture. A organization referred to as the Karaites is the reverse of the Ethiopian and best consider within the five Books of Moses. Rabbinical Jews name Karaites "a sect of Judaism". You can goggle it and notice for your self. Don't permit any individual let you know that there aren't any sects in Judaism. They say the the lessons of Jesus are very one-of-a-kind from Judaism. They additionally declare that Jesus taught not anything new from the rabbis earlier than him. Then they we let you know that there have been no rabbis till 100 years after the time of Jesus. Its all approximately successful the argument to them no longer approximately what is actual. The challenge isn't variations however similarities. You must recognise ALL the writers of the Christian Bible had been Jews however one. Much of our Scriptures are shared. The great majority of early believers in Jesus had been Jews. So while you listen the specific reverse you ought to hold that during brain. A Jew can consider in Jesus and nonetheless be a Jew. Edit: those who make individual accusations must incorporate hyperlinks or close up.
