TO EXCITE YOU TO FEEL!!! Simple as that, we as humans dumb it up with stupid, ignorant concepts like romantic love. You can't fake love, which we all try to do becasue we think its all that matters, BS! IT comes down to HOW YOU USE THAT LOVE!!!!! And that takes time..... ether way thou, these ability to excite feelings creates a cascade of feelings within us, this in-turn binds us to that indivdiual or object. So its purpose is to bind us, but don't be BLINDED by it, we can love anything!!!!!! ANYTHING!!!! Even an abuse, child-melesting, theif, who killed are mother, get?
