my teacher just gave me the camera
i have 125 speed film in it
he has it set to automatic...but that thing where it says automatic shows 400
does that make a difference if it is set to auto?

Yes! On this camera the ISO setting is part of the shutter speed dial. Grasp the knurled ring and gently pull up on it. You can now turn the ISO (counterclockwise to go from 400 back to 125) to the first mark past 100 (it looks something like this 100 ' ' 200). You will then have the correct ISO and your exposures will be fine.

This is an "A" (AUTO) Aperture Preferred camera. You set the aperture and the camera will set the shutter speed. If memory serves you can see the shutter speed in the viewfinder but not the f-stop you chose.
