"Pagans worship the ground YOU walk on" if this is so then they also worshipped the ground "Jesus" walked on as well.
The bible is a collection of retold history of Jesus' time on this earth. I look at the bible as a collection of retold stories passed down from many generations. What happens when you re tell a story too many times? Exactly, it gets stretched or added to or some parts forgotten as it is told. Also, you are trying to convert millions in to a one belief system from a multi god belief system so to get more converts you must "sensationalize" or "embellish" certain historical references to coinside with other religious texts or to look better than what is currently practiced. Not till the 14 to 1600's did the "Church" realize how much power they actually weilded. Prior to then the clergy would actually confer and meet with the local "healers" of the area for medicinal help. They renamed the herbs so that the current Pagan healers would be looked upon as evil - which inturn made the Church more powerful. The Church also had the Monarchy by the balls, so to speak, because the private confessional was instituted and you must confess to a preist rather than "confess to eachother your sins"(stated in the bible) and now the Vatican and local Clergy knew private info on the Monarchy as well as the country. Remember, only the wealthy or well off could afford schooling to learn to read and write, so it was easy to fool a lot of people into believing (especially with soldiers). I do not put down christians or other religions for their beliefs EVER. If you believe in peace and harm none, love and respect, then believe how you wish to beleive. Time is too short to fight over who is right or wrong.
"Those whom do not learn from the past are doomed to reapeat it" George Santayana. 1860's
Be blessed in your loving God or Gods or Godess. Be at peace and respect all and never force your beleifs on anyone! They will choose what path is for them it is never up to us how others live their lives or after life.
This is just a brief exerpt that I have discovered on my journey. If you would like to know my whole take on all you stated then email me. Thanks.
Blessed Be and Peace

Christianity has always thought of witchcraft as evil. Many people who are Christians are afraid of witchcraft and believe it is powerful. That belief has led to the death of many innocent people mostly women The Christians could not allow the evil witches to survive. It was a matter of thier religion being defiled so they attempted to rid the world of the witches. Unfortunately most of the people they killed werent witches at all. Most were healers who has learned through experience what herbs worked best for what ailment. Some were people who had eaten out of lead based pans and become very mentally unstable as a result. One more case of religion caused mentally instablility.
. Wicca is not a religion that believes in Satan as since there is no one god there is no satan either. Wiccans believe in Mother Earth and Father Sky. In nature and its elements they find the needed things for life.

It's amazing how many people love what is evil and hate God. It just proves the bible is right and the words of the Lord Jesus Christ will always stand and can never be changed or destroyed. I'm glad i'm on the winning side and Satan doesn't have a chance. Satan's power is not even a drop in the bucket compared to the power of JESUS!! Unless those whom practice witchcraft or any other satanic worship repent of their wickedness, they will surely burn in hell for ever, along with Satan - Repent while you have the chance - Jesus loves you enough to save you if you repent: I'll preach to the world whether they like it or not - reject it or not - it will be told. Matthew 7:13-14 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way , that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

First of all, David, you should be aware that witchcraft IS NOT supernatural, it is inter-natural. We work WITH nature, not outside it. Not all witches have Gardnerian influence as my particular path pre dates Gardner and Crowley. Obviously I am not Wiccan! I am a Pictish Witch. And our history goes back to before Christ. I do not worship any god or goddess, we are all part of something much larger and work with each other. I respect the gods & goddesses and appreciate them. I thank them daily for letting me see and be part of the wonders of nature.
The Salem incident is a sad point in history, but I think that ultimately a lot of good came from it in the form of lessons learned, although I do firmly believe that 2 of the condemned were in fact witches. It also shows the power of political offices!
My take on the Wiccan Rede is that it is akin to the Christian "Golden Rule" in essence and that is (of course) Do Unto Others As You Would Have Done To You". If only people would see that! The entire Rede IS quite lengthy and most witches and/or Wiccans are not familiar with it. Thus it is simplified into "Do As Thou Wilt, an' In It Harm None". Witches/Wiccans need to understand that this means themselves as well as others.

I believe that it has been shown that when the early church was converting the ancient pagans, they demonized all their religious practices, especially those connected with the occult. Thaey termed them "witchcraft" and made sure that they were stigmatized. This was the only way they could really force people to convert, by making them fear the old religions and practices.
Practices such as divination, healing, etc were condemned as "devilish" unless they were done by the church, in which case they were "miracles."
Now, Wicca is associated with that historical demonization due to Gardner and the originators of Wicca insisting it was a revival of old witchcraft practices. And due to it's roots in the Golden Dawn, via Crowley. Rather than just admiting it was an entirely new religion, he made it carry all that old baggage. And today, there is still a strong stigma on all religious and occult practices outside the church.

just my personal understandings here..........
but the biblespeaks out against witchcraft and sorcery and that has been interpreted to mean wiccan. Mostly I think it stems from a misunderstanding of what wiccan really is. I have a daughter who is wiccan, and I respect her beliefs and attitudes immensly.
I think the Salem witch trials were a horrendous injustice, and a sad commentary on the times and attitudes.
I think the satan-witchcraft connection also stems from interpretations of the bible.
The Rede is awesome and has some very good ideas to follow for lifestyle.
My religion, when it has said anything has said 'witchcraft may not be of God' - based on the bible of course. But wiccan they have said nothing of to my knowledge.

The word 'witch' was never even in the bible until the Middle Ages, with the invention of the printing press..during the time of the Inquisition, when pagans were being tortured, burned, and murdered by the Church! In the passage "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live", 'witch' was substituted in place of the original word 'poisoner'...so the christians could feel justly obligated to be rid of those who did not want to convert to their faith. Wicca/witchcraft is seen as evil due to ignorance. I thank the Goddess every day that my mind and eyes are OPEN...and pray for those whose eyes and minds are not.
Blessings to you....

It's seen as evil because of the Christian history of our culture. Lucifer is a similar thing because the model was actually a god to someone else; the god Pan in Greek tradition. Pan had horns, giving us the familiar figure. Notice that Lucifer IN THE BIBLE is never specifically equated with the Devil/Satan.
Basically, early fanatics made anything that they didn't personally approve of/weren't used to into something evil. It was about power. And conquest.
The craft? Depends how you mean. It might be worthwhile to find out which direction the forces flow ON THEIR OWN (so you can flow with them, enjoying the benefeit) rather than trying to manipulate them. Why "play with chemicals" when you don't know what your mixing?

Actually, I believe, that the church lied, back in the medieval days, when 'witch' trials were going on, they changed they bible to fit their own purposes. See, they say that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute, but she wasn't, she was a pagan priestess, they changed a word in the bible to witch, and they did this, I think, so they could 'remove' people they didn't like. Most of these people were actually ordinary scientists, chemists, doctors, or just anybody who believed in, or did things the church didn't like.
I don't even bother the read the modern bible anymore, because it's so full of lies, if you want a true bible, read the old ones, that are just now being discovered by archaeologists and anthropologists. They tell the truth because they came before the church became corrupt.
I think one of them is called the 'Mediterranean Scrolls' or something like that, I have a review of it in my Library in the reference section.
