Yes i agree with you here. It aggravates me to hear that. I think that is part of the reason why I am pro immigration. Because I hate being put in the same category. What I mean by that is that now everytime I am at store or anywhere I feel people are looking at me and saying oh look at that illegal. I hear people say well I was at the mall and this illegal and they say oh I knew they were illegal they were speaking spanish. IT irks me so much. Not all hispanics are here illegally and not all people here illegally are hispanic. I mean go to manville new jersey 80 percent of the population that is illegal there is polish. I dont hear people talking about the polish illegals taking over manville.

I sort of understand why people assume all illegal immigrants are Hispanic, because most of them are. There are, of course, a lot of British, German and Canadian retirees in Florida who stay more than six months a year without a valid visa, and these are probably the next largest group of illegal immigrants in America.

I don't understand at all, apart from ignorance, why people would confuse Hispanic with being illegal. Even if we take the largest estimate for the number of illegal immigrants in the USA, about 20 million, and assume they're all Hispanic, it's still true that the majority of Hispanic-Americans are legal immigrants or native-born citizens.

Whenever you use an absolute such as everybody, all, always, never is takes away a bit of the credibility of the statement.

It is very rare to find any absolutes in human experience or in nature for that matter.

I don't know why anyone would waste their time making that kind of assumption-
Considering how many Hispanic citizens we have in this country-
So I can only speak for me
I'd say the ones I assume to be illegal when I assume it -
can't speak English
Have no id
And yes they are Hispanic
And yes I know what happens when I assume - I make an a** out of u and me- happens far too often

I have never met or seen anyone who couldn't speak English and wasn't of Latino descent- and that is my experience for what it is worth.

I do know however that all illegals are by no means Hispanic,Mexican , Latino - as a matter of fact right now there are 521,000 other than Mexican illegals in the country.- Whether I have ever seen them or not, I know because the numbers tell me so.

in an attempt to make sense of it americans are angry and their anger is misguided. you treat the cause when you have a problem -- you can't treat symptoms. if you have bird flu you don't take cough medicine. the causes are the corporations that hire illegally and the american government that ignores problems. somehow its ok to point the finger at the brown man. if you study history the great depression was blamed on italian and eastern european immigrants that didn't have working papers -- history repeats. so why ask why -- people have been taught they should love their government and corporations and when they get screwed over by them they get confused because they don't know how to form rational thought as their government and corporations have always done it for them. nothing new here.

It is strange isn't it that pro illegals would call anyone racist because we want to deport all illegals. It isn't because of their nationality but because they are criminals. Criminals is not a race. Nor is Hispanic for that matter so you see why I get tired of being called a racist when all I want is my country to follow it's own laws.
If you have a Hispanic question I suggest you post it elsewhere than in immigration if it is not an immigration question to avoid the confusion maybe.
My best to your friends and their parents and I hope you and they will join me in calling for the removal of all illegals. Thank you.

Wel if you asking a hispanic question in the immigration section that might have something to do with it. You are also seeing a backlash with the millions of illegal mexicans crossing our border.

This site is about "IMMIGRATION". Questions about Hispanic-Americans aren't asked here. Most people are currently concerned about illegal immigration -- here and in Europe. Most of the questions have to do with illegal immigration as a result. The vast majority of illegal aliens in the US are Hispanic. The vast majority of illegals in Europe are middle eastern. This time of the day, mostly Americans are online. Nobody is confused here. We know what we are talking about. It just isn't what some people want to hear.

I am glad your friends and their parents are not illegal members of our society. To be honest, that is all I'm looking for in immigrants. I do not care where you come from, if you do it legally, I will welcome you with open arms. I wish nothing but the best for your friends.

Easy to understand because the majority of illegal criminal aliens in this country are hispanic. I know there are hispanics that have done citizenship the correct way, but there are so very many that have not.
