You know, I bet the shared bathroom won't bother you as much as you think. For one thing, you have a sink in your room at Hotel 17, so you can clean your teeth and wash your face in privacy, at least. That means you'll only be using the bathroom to...well....go to the bathroom (and you presumably use public bathrooms all day, anyway, so there's no big deal there) and take a shower in the morning.
And really -- even taking a shower isn't so bad, provided you've got some good flipflops to wear in there and a nice big towel to cover you up on the way to and from the place (you might consider bringing your own -- or even a robe.) I've stayed in tons of places with shared bathrooms, and at first was sure I'd be horrified, but really it's hardly a big deal at all -- the worst thing, actually, is staying in a place with a shared bathroom AND a shared room (youth hostels, for instance); at least with your own room, you just need to get back there, and then you can strip off and change in private. I always found the worst part of sharing a room having to struggle to put my clothes back on in a cramped shower cubicle, or change under my towel back in the dorm. (Plus, if you've ever showered in a gym or a health club or a spa, you know it's not a huge deal.)
So don't worry -- it's not as though you're going to be at your hotel all day anyway (right?), and you're going to be in the bathroom even less! Take comfort in the fact that you've found a great deal, a centralized location, and that you can spend the money you're saving on seeing more of New York (which is really the point, right?)
Not sure if you've checked out IgoUgo.com yet, but their New York page is very helpful -- reviews and pictures of places to eat, things to do, places to stay, etc. -- and there's a fairly favorable opinion on Hotel 17: http://www.igougo.com/lodging-reviews-b163035-New_York-Hotel_17.html
I'd say you picked a good choice -- enjoy it!

It wasnt that dangerous however it had cockroaches and ants. There was once mold at the ceiling and it was once rough to respire. The noise degree wasnt that dangerous if you close the home windows and for public shipping that was once the fine factor. All in distance.

try tripadvisor.com - you will find lots of reviews there.
Don't stay in Manhattan and your cost will drop significantly.
