I hav a JVC GR-D244U, and I was wondering if I can use a regular 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable to conncet it to my computer instead of the one made by JVC. The instructions say to make sure that I am using the JVC cable, but is there a chance that any firewire cable would work?

The 4 and 6 pin DV cables are standard and any brand can be used. I got mine from Staples.
