I believe it was Square One - all about math. They were featured in a segment called Mathnet, a math-fueled parody of Dragnet.

yes, star is correct, it was Mathnet on Square One TV. they solved math related crimes, Joe Friday and Kate Monday were their names.. one of the shorts featured a very young Yeardley Smith who now voices Lisa Simpson.. she was talking care of a large gorilla..
