I accidently put too much pepper in my corned beef. (the cap came off.) is there a way to tone down the heat?

I scooped off as much as I could

If it's just on the meat, rinse it off. If it's in the water, pour off most of the water and replace it with clean water. You may have to add back any other spices you put in besides the pepper.

Drain, rince meat and start over.
