Can anyone suggest a way to resolve this problem with my father's bicycle? Some idiot is leaving notes on it.

Basically, whenever my father leaves his bike anywhere locally, this idiot (same person each time I believe) pins a little note saying the same thing every time, which is: "This bicycle is poo and wee".
Now my father is getting on in years and this is quite upsetting for him even though no actual damage has been done. On that basis is it worth getting the police involved? Would they even care?

How very unpleasant. it's the kind of thig you hope is a kid being silly but you worry might be someone a bit bigger and a more ?unhinged?
I don't think the police would be too interested, they couldn't be bothered ringing me back when I had my purse stolen from my child's pushchair, but perhaps in your area they may be more helpful. If you live somewhere quite rural with a lower poulation they may help.

Perhaps trying to get a picture may be useful but may provoke someone to anger as well. If it turns out to be a child you could tell them not to be so silly but I wouldn't want to start some kind of feud. |If you see it's an adult I think I would go to the police or start parking the bike within range of a CCTV camera and then inform the police.

Good luck with this. I think the police are supposed to be there to protect people and I'd love to think that they would take the time to help your dad to sort this out.

I say your father leave a note when he parks his bike around town.Maybe who is this? This person has to be someone that your father knows. There isn't some inside joke, maybe from along time ago that it could be. I wouldent get the cops involved, but maybe you should do your own stake out where you have your father leave his bike somewhere and have the family watch his bike from various places. If possible stop the guy after he leaves his note.

This could became a case of harassment if he continues to do so after you leave a note asking him to stop.

1. leave a note on the bicycle telling the person to stop or you will have to file a harassment report with local police.

2. if it continues tell the cops someone has been following your father and leaving notes you think this person is stalking him and might harm your father.

3. you could try waiting him out and see who it is. after you do 1 and 2 then you can have the police talk to the person.

I don't think the police would be interested because technically no crime has been committed. What your Father should do is leave his bike in his usual spot, thenwalk off as normal and watch his bike from a safe distance to see if the culprit turns up. If he does, he has got him.

I'm guessing the person responsible is of limited intelligence, probably doing the same to others also. It shouldn't be too difficult to watch dads bike, and talk to the guy when he appears. If that doesn't work, or if it doesn't look safe to approach him, then call the police. The police will appreciate the fact you tried to resolve it yourself.

No the police would not even think about it ...how ever what I would do, would be to make my own note and pin it to the bike when I leave it saying"and we are watching you, smile your on candi camera!!!!! and your being recorded!!! lol

That is terrible. I would find that really distressing. It sounds to me like someone is having a joke but clearly, it is not funny.

I would do this. Get your father to take his bike out and you lie in wait to see who is doing this. Do the same when he takes his bike out again - take a picture on your mobile or camera. When you see the same person doing it, have a work and say you will go to the police. This would be considered harrassment and should be taken seriously by the police.

I hope your dad is OK - try to reassure him that this is likely to be some waster teenager having a joke. I don't like to see vulnerable people being worried like this. Good luck.
